"We have already seen people get great results from wounding."

Really? I've seen one Indian study and one poster (fly something) demonstrate 'great' results. Others, like Swiss Temples, demonstrated limited success. Anectodally, many others, including myself, have observed no cosmetic difference.

PrettyFly's results are amazing... but he's been going at it for about 3 YEARS so... there's that. I've been doing the dermarolling thing on and off, got recently back on it with much harsher wounding once a week with minoxidil (and a host of other things) and in about 3-5 months my hairstylist said she noticed a dramatic increase in density. I'm still too afraid to have a look for myself though. Ignorance is bliss.

do you think that is basically what Costarellis little do-hicky is? its a fancy safe way to wound yourself at home? I thought it was about creating new follicles..to be honest his stuff confuses me.

No and I really doubt it. Some of their patents mention SCAB formation, so I'm pretty sure their method of wounding is much harsher.. hence why they state themselves; does the body regenerate skin or hair? There isnt much skin regeneration with a dermaroller.

Jesus christ, do people on the forums actually read? There is so much info about Follica's approach out there, but the discussion doesn't advance beyond, "uh this like dermarolling right?".

About new skin creation vs scab formation... with a dermaroller i dont think enough damage is being inflicted to cause skin creation, let alone hair.
For the most part i would think all thats really happening is the tiny wound us scabbing up.
Dermarolling may well indeed be letting the minoxidil penetrate more effectively. Just not sure how those tiny needles would cause any new creation of anything. I think hellouser is right it would have to be much harsher

I have gotten scabs from dermarolling, amidoingitrite?
I have too. It honestly seems like after I dermaroll I have increased shedding with no regrowth .

I'm wondering if some sort of dermal abrasion or chemical peel what actually stimulate hair/ skin growth more than Derma rolling.

Sigh. The idea is to create an open wound with a significant surface area that can't close on itself. That way in inside the wound where the cells are in an embryonic window they can be pushed to become hair instead of skin. DR is many tiny pinpricks, a totally different wounding modality.

Do you apply minoxidil directly after cleaning off the blood? 7 did it for 6 months just on my temples and didn't notice a thing, but I didn't use minoxidil until 12 hours after to avoid any type of chemical poisoning to the blood if there was one... I do it to the point of dripping blood which is what I assume you mean by harsher wounding?

I rinse hair with water (get rid of blood) wait until hair and scalp dries and then i apply minoxidil.

The in clinic treatment may be more severe wounding, but I can't imagine they are going to have ppl bleeding themselves at home. I can't imagine any legal team allowing that even if they thought it would be a viable business option.

Follica is not going to be scalping their patients.

Dermabrasion. Look it up. It's not new. It's been done a million times in clinical settings.

It means scraping off the top layer of skin and limiting the damage to just short of open bleeding & scarring. It is still severe, still painful, still leaves your skin looking red, and it still takes months to fully heal up. But it's not getting scalped. Whatever Follica plans to do, it will be something in the ballpark of dermabrasion.

Dermabrasion is not needling either. Needling/rolling methods poke zillions of small holes. Abrasion uniformly wounds the whole surface. The reaction that it provokes from the body is a little different.

Posters, please read this and absorb. Do not confuse these things.

Yes let me clarify one thing. Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion have been done for the last decade or two to reduce acne scarring. It is something that is even being offered in cosmetic studios and salons not just clinics. If done by a skilled technician it is something very safe.
There are contraptions like
REVIDERM Skin Peeler which can depending on the depth of skin you want to treat operate on epidermis and dermis of the skin.
I think we should concentrate on what kind of compound Follica plans to use. Because even if the signaling following the dermabrasion kicks in we still need a good enough compound to jump start growth.I'm not sure minoxidil is strong enough to act on follicles that have degraded due to DHT. Back in 2008 Follica was playing with lithium compounds but that got them nowhere.
