Hello everybody. I am brand new to this board and need help.
I started Wellbutrin XL 150mg 10 months ago and recently realized that I have lost an enormous amount of my already thin, fine hair. It is very obvious, diffuse thinning that is especially thin at my left temple and entire top/vertex. From the back, I look likeI have 3 huge parts running down my skull.
I saw a remarkably uninformed dermatologist who immediately diagnosed hereditary Androgenetic Alopecia and put me on Rogaine 2%. I've been using it for three weeks, and I hate it.
Now, after doing tons of online research and reading your posts, I realized that my hair loss may nbe due to low iron or anti-depressant use.
Here are my other possible contributing factors: Ferritin is 24, I also take Klonopin and Trazodone nightly, and I was popping Advil like M&Ms (ibuprofen also causes hair loss.) I've quit the Advil, am tapering off the Klonopin (no fun), and am doubtful it's the Traz because I've taken that for a decade with no problems. And I'm taking iron supplements.
Here are my questions: Should I be on Rogaine if this is a medication/low iron induced Telogen Effluvium? I hear it can do more harm than good.
My thyroid checked out fine, by the way.
Thank you for any advice!
