Over the past 5-6 months ive made a conscious effort to keep my Glycemic Index (GI) low. Listed below is mainly what what my meals consisted of.
Carbs: Brokerly, Brussel Sprouts, Beans, Sweet Potato, Apples, Pears, Wholemeal Bread, Oatmeal.
Fat: Raw Cashews (unsalted), Peanut butter, egg yolk.
Protein: Boiled Chicken Breast, Tuna, Egg whites and Whey Protein Shakes.
I drink water only. Had the occasional multi-vitamin.
Now at first eating foods without that sugar spike was incredibly hard. After a lifetime of eating salty, high fat, sugar filled, massive portion sized meals my body litterally went into shock, my skin broke out and my hair started to shed and became even more limp. My body was very shocked by this sudden change in diet. I felt weak and heavy all the time because my blood sugar was so low, I was used to that high peaking energy boost. I was tempted to give up, but i just kept telling myself i was suffering from some kind of withdrawel from high sugar food. I won't lie its taken a good 4-5 months for me to finally reap the benefits of this diet, along with a weights training regime at my local gym. Anyway as a result of keeping my GI low, most noticably is the improvements to my skin, facially its alot more smooth and less blotchy. Skin, Nails and Hair often go hand in hand and my hair is no exception, I have not seen it this healthy and thick for years. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a result of my low GI diet in combination with my Rogaine Foam, finasteride and work out regime. The secret is consistancy. I had this kind of diet in the past, but I would always blow it on the weekend by having a high GI snack, this kind of thing is no good! The only time I ate higher GI foods was was after a workout because it can be used to re-fuel the muscles, but eventually I stopped eating high GI all together.
So many people talk about the BIG 3. Well in my opinion it should be the BIG 5.
1. finasteride
2. minoxidil
3. nizoral
4. Diet (low GI)
5. Excercise
Without the final two pieces of the puzzle, I dont believe your maximizing your full hair growth potential.
