Hey guys,

How is the new year so far for u?

I've done a bloodwork and i've very low vitamin D. I don't know for how long but at least 4 months and maybe for years because i've been on high
meds antidepressants -psychotics -sleepingpills etc. These medication can run out vitamin D.

Can a low vitamin D cause hair loss? overall and on the hairline? (see my pics in the others posts).

Thank you very much!

I'm not sure but i think it was ok. But my vitamin D levels are very low and i know that some medication can inhibit vitamin d. It is so low that i've got a rash everywhere, muscle cramps, joint pain and more.
I'm not great at reading from ncbi. Can it cause hairloss?

thank you

Many people are vitamin D deficient since we stay inside and avoid the sun now. Everyone would benefit from supplementation, very important for especially cardiovascular heath. I take 5000IU per day and make sure it is D-3 softgels, NOT powder type capsules (not as effective). Aim for a blood level above 50.

Is it good for the hair? Who knows...if your hairloss is health-related it might, if male pattern baldness probably not. But take it for your general health regardless.

you can find my pictures in my older posts. I've a very low vitamin D level and my doctor has given me 50.000iu a week. What do you think?

btw cardiovascular heath is related with male pattern baldness.

Hair grows in cycles, anagen (growth) and telogen (rest).

Yes i know that but you're putting her out that hair cycles are bad. Vitamin d controls hair cycles. Vitamin d is bad. Controlling hair cycles can also mean hold the hair longer in anagen fase because vitamin d can inhibit inflammatory. It regulates the immuun systeem.

I don't get your message here. It's dangerous to say these things because some readers will try lower there vitamin d. Because of what you said.

Your link from pubmed says: The vitamin D receptor, independent of vitamin D, plays an important role in hair cycling, specifically anagen initiation.
Yes anagen initiation.

"response from 2020

ugh it will take a decade for those idiots to connect all the dots.

Vitamin D = Glutathione. Bald people have lower levels of Glutathione, in their scalp at least, so that's that. Check gutted's thread..."

Your original question was "Can a low vitamin D cause hair loss?" The answer is no. If your hair is miniaturizing then it's not because of the low vitamin d3.
