Hello, I am 27 year old and suffering from Androgenic hair loss since a year back. After looking at all over places and forums, i finally came up with treatment to slow down my hair loss and regrow it. Below is my treatment currently following.
1. Macuna Pruriens (Valvet beans) powder – 1 teaspoon twice a day
2. Nizoral 1 % shampoo – twice a week
3. Pumpkin seed Oil – Topical and in food
4. Nail rubbing yoga technique – Balayam yoga to improve blood circulation in hair

The reason for choosing macuna pruriens is it increases testosterone, works on prostate enlargement and reduces prolactine. Prolactine increase 5 alpha reductase activity in increasing DHT. Hence less Prolactine = Less DHT. I am not sure if Macuna is gonna work on hair loss however I somehow managed to make a connection with hair loss. I have heard bad things about Saw Palmeto as it may risk our sex life.
Please suggest if Macuna would really work on androgenic hair loss or it is just my wrong assumption.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like a standard BS weaksauce treatment. 99% chance you will still lose your hair. Start finasteride 1mg daily

The only worthwhile thing in your regimen is the Nizoral shampoo. You should really not waste your time (and hair) with those types of treatments. If some topical oil or nutrient combination could really (visually) impact your hair, I suspect there would be a bigger market for those things. Despite what everyone so desperately tries to believe, we really only have 3 proven and effective treatments for hair-loss: Finasteride/Dutasteride, minoxidil, and Nizoral shampoo.

Thanks for clearing out the confusion. Is there any other solution to stop the hair loss naturally and regrow new? I am little worried about taking finasteride/propecia/rogain or any other products to risk my sex life. Hence I have tried to customized my regimen a bit. Please suggest if I can go for it.

1. Nizoral 2 % (every 3rd day) - It works like 2% minoxidil
2. Nettle root extract - 5 alpha reductase inhibitor to stop testosterone conversion into DHT
3. Pumpkin seed oil - Zinc, 5 alpha reductase inhibitor to stop testosterone conversion into DHT (Topically and in diet)
4. NOW Biotin 5000 MCG - Strengthen hair follicles and thickness

Thanks again,
Roul

No only an oral DHT inhibitor like finasteride or dutasteride will stop your hair loss or maybe RU58441. Other things will only help but are far too weak to stop it on their own (if they even help at all)

. You really only have two options outside of an unlikely result or a miracle: Use finasteride or lose your hair.

Since the Romans, maybe even earlier, people have been trying out natural remedies for hairloss. Baldness is a genetic problem and herbs are too weak to put up a fight.

@ZZZZZ: Despite my fears as shared by others, I bought today Propecia tablets, in Romania there is no Finasteride, they are just called "Propecia" and just took my first tablet. You are very convinced in using this substance as the only remedy. What is your personal experience on this? Are you using it for long and did it stop hairloss or regrowth of hair for you? Also are you sure about Minoxidil? I used Rogaine for a month, but it got my hair sticky and felt after a month some hair falling out when I massaged it in, so I'm not sure.
Thanks in advance

I have only been on treatments for like 9 weeks but before I did this became very knowledgeable reading studies etc. I use dutasteride which is a more potent form of propecia/finasteride. The first 6 weeks my shedding increased and I had a monster shed nonstop for well over a month and over the last 2-3 weeks my hair loss/shedding came to almost a complete stop, before everywhere I pulled I could pull out multiple hairs and when I used shampoo in the shower there would be dozens of hairs on my hand, and hairs all over my pillow, but now this has all stopped and it is almost as hard to remove hairs from the top of my head as from the sides and back now. minoxidil works for regrowth, but it is not as good as finasteride, and it does not stop the cause of hair loss. So minoxidil is just an illusion in a way of your hair getting better but underneath the process of hair loss still continues. minoxidil is good for people who want the most regrowth possible and should be used in combination with finasteride for these people. If you are satisfied with only maintaining what you have than finasteride alone is enough. Hair loss treatments take months to work and often cause initial shedding for weeks-months, you need to wait a long time before you know if it is working or not, like more than 6 months
