Made The Switch To Dutasteride After 6 Months Of 'bad' Finasteride Experience

My status: NW2,5 and losing hair very fast. No sides on finasteride.

With 'bad' i mean: been shedding 300+ hairs since starting and maybe 150+ before taking it. No signs of reduced hairloss and lost 30/40 hair density. Have a feeling this won't work for me as well.

Will update if something happens good or bad.

it's impossible to lose hair on propecia. :p lol like omg.. seriously though, been there man. it's f*****g terrible. I tried dutasteride for about a month but my scalp went f*****g NUTS. IF you get a lot of sensations (crawling, itching, burning, etc...) on dutasteride, DROP IT.

There is no 'feelings' involved. Either it works for you or it doesn't. Remember though to allow up to 6 months to properly gauge its effects on you and expect sheds.
Yeah i know. I can tell with 95%certainty that finasteride wouldnt worked for me. I have searched tens of profiles of people who had non stop enormous shedding on propecia for 6 months. For 95% of those finasteride didnt do anything after 12+ months as well.

Its weird to say but i hope i will get some sides like watery sperm or lower libido. That way i know it does something, good or bad.

Have you tested your DHT levels? Pretty simple way to tell how well it is working for you or not.

I have tested it after 4 months on it. Results:

ENDOCRINOLOGIE
dihydrotestosteron (DHT): 0.53 nmol/l average range: 0.34 - 2.87

Because i have no baseline test (dumb me) i can't tell how well it is working. It seems low on propecia but can be lower??
What do you think about my DHT level test?

Its good to see a smart young man reading up and arriving at his own conclusions. This forum has shown hostility to claims that massive shedding is a bad sign, and several users has tried to turn it into a good sign, based on a single case with a japanese man.

Youre right, shedding is often a bad sign, i been saying it a long time and it has most often provoked fina users, vigorously advicing newcomers to stay on fina and pretend shedding is a good thing. Next they want us to think going to the gym and lose muscle mass is desirable too, "its supposed to be like that, first you become tiny and weak and suddenly you start gaining after a year or two, i heard of a japanese who did".

300+ hairs a wash was about my average on Finasteride too.

OMFG!

I'd be absolutely panicking hysterically with that level of shedding.

I thought I was bad at about 100/wash before I started HRT. Now I'm down to maybe 10-12/wash and panic when it gets to 20 like it did this past weekend, but I've been on HRT for 5 months now, and minoxidil for 6 so I guess it's probably about the correct time that I begin to experience some amount of telogen-exogen phase for a portion of my hairs?

How old are you? How fit are you?
That is on the low side which meant that it was likely working on you (lack of baseline). Dutasteride should work even more.
Simply repeat the DHT and Testosterone tests and you should notice even lower DHT and higher Testosterone.
I am 28 and very fit! Very happy with my gene except for my balding genes.

I thought it was on the low side as well but not low enough for to slow down hairloss. Or i have an adverse/no reaction. Its a gamble and flipped a coin to go for an heavier regime. I will take this for 18 months before i throw in the towel.

I have read a lot of stories off people who got a 2nd shed in month 6/7. Good sign

Irrelevant. Fitness has no effect on hormones, but hormones has an enormous effect on fitness. Don't confuse cause and effect, 65 year old passive men on Nebido are far healthier than 30 year old deficient men hitting the gym 4 times a week, its Ferrari vs Skoda diesel. Pls update urself, strong ppl are not healthy because they exversise but are exercising because they are healthy.

Hi Guys,
Small update. Today i am taking dutasteride 0.5 a day for a week. I have 0 sides, just like finasteride. I have good erections, good libido and no watery sperm. Same speed of hairloss.

Doesn't feel promising....

One week is nowhere near long enough to tell whether it is working. Btw where do you get your dutasteride? I have been on finasteride for 2.5 years myself and am continuing to lose hair. I am thinking about switching to dutasteride as well.

I am from Holland and got it from a forum guy. But he is out so i got a recommedation to buy it from PharmacyDirectGB. The seem to be shipping to a lot of countries. You can add a consult 20£ so you will get a prescription.

How about observerving reality? Several studies has been made to determine "are people healthy because they excersize or are they excersizing because theyre healthy". So far the results are only pointing to the lattter. Can a hypogonadal person excersize himself healthy? Big no. Can a hypothyroid person excersize himself healthy? Big no. Can a hyperthyroid person? Big no. Can a diabetic person? Absolutely no, in fact they're told to limit excersuze to improve health. Facts. Dont ask where i got it, ask where science got it.

Youre obviously hypogonadal, why dont you excersize and prove me wrong? Its so easy, right? Just do it, and i will admit youre right ;)

Heres a deal: i will continue my very unhealthy lifestyle and you will excersize, then we see in 3 months whos in better shape :)

Hi Guys,
5.5 week update:

I feel like sh*t. I thought from week 2 till week 4 that my hairloss shedding went from 300 hairs tot 150 hairs. But after week for it went back to usual and it already made my hair looks like sh*t and see through. Can't style my hair anymore.

No sides, no nothing... so i seem to be non responding / got accelarated hairloss.

I have no choice but to continue to use it though.

2,5 month update:

Still the same... dutasteride does absolutely nothing so far and i still lose massive amounts of hair (and ground). And i think i got developing gyno. No other sexual sides.

ey bro keep calm and stick with the treatment.

i know the shedding is very difficult but dutas is a very strong med and hairs must shed to regrothw more thicker.

duta also take a lot of time to build in the system, you will see some improvements only after 5/6 months
