hey i am worried to death about going bald but im not 100 percent sure i have male pattern baldness i think i do but i need a second opinion. im not sure if i have a receding hairline do i? do i have diffuse thinning? i would appreciate second opinions by veiweing the photos. if i do have male pattern baldness (probably) what do you think i should do im only 17! DAMNIT and my moms side has history of baldness altough my dad's doesnt. also on what scale of Norwood do you think i am at?

[/img]
this first pick is when i run my fingers through my hair pushing it back it seems to make a part too avoid this look i usually comb it forward

receding hairline?

thats when i come it forard

back of my head

front pushed back

and my hair looks like 10 times worse then that when im wet. do you think it could be stress omg i always feel stressed..damnit what if it is male pattern baldness i just turned 17 what should i do?

probably male pattern baldness. Check out my thread in the tell your story forum because your hair is almost exactly like mine- dark brown with thinning on top.

i think you should go see a dermatologist. your hairline looks fine it's pretty similar to mine- i'd say you're a Norwood 1.5

Yes, get to a dermatologist as soon as possible.

One thing i've learned is that you're never to young for anything. I started thinning a couple of weeks after i turned seventeen.

Looks great to me, but also shows the first signs of diffuse thinning.

I had the same pattern when I turned 18, progressed very slowly since the initial thinning, but steadily.

Watch it out carefully. Remember it´s much easier to maintain than to regrow.

Get info on the meds, go to a derm and make a personal decission. (in this precise progression: Info->dermatologist->decide)

It´s up to you, and how much you value your hair, because treatments are for long and require compromise and $.

Anyway, gourmetstylewellness.com has a very good info section in its main page. Don´t look for info or reviews on seller´s pages and/or base your opinions in forum posters at the first time. Emotions are on the way: no good info.

Hey, you should even doubt about everything I´ve just told you :D

diffuse thinning and some miniaturization look, to me it seems you just started losing it, hairline is still in great shape, go see the derm and get on propecia already!

i have the same exact hairtype but more thin on sides for me, i'd say get a shorter haircut and brush it alot to give more volume to the hair and it will be less visible after that. As far as treatments if you respond to minoxidil positively then it will be ok for you but for me i had alot of dandruff and itcheness from it and i had to quit it because it was just becoming a mess and it did nothing but thickening the hair a bit and lots of dandruff falling out everytime its brushed.

the top of your hair seems to be thinning, but thats just the way u parted it, ur crown seems to be like mine, i was wondering if i was balding too, u dont have a receding hairline, thats normal.

Cheers

hmm, did u use to comb ur hair like that before? cause i remember my friend in 7th grade made a very obvious parting everday for like 2 yrs, there was like a massive patch of white in his head, but he wasnt bald, he just combed his hair like that.

im 18, when i mess up my hair a lot my scalp isnt visible either, but there is one pic where u combed ur hair forward, that looks normal to me? im just new to this, so i shouldnt give advice, best check with a derm.

I would have killed to have had that hair at 17. I showed a friend of mine a pic of me at age 10 and he said "Jesus, have you always had a receeded hairline?"

Now imagine having a already receeded hairline start to receed. Horrible. Enjoy your hair while it lasts if you are in fact losing it. I've never lived a day in my life having good hair.

Boohoohoo, then you've lived a life without loss lol. I used to have thick italian black hair and then i lost alot of it at 16ish and now i'm fighting to get it back. It sucks more when you had it and then lost it, and then picture yourself with it and then see yourself without it. I'm just glad I'm getting alot back.

well a couple of years ago i had terrible dandruffy, flakey hair, but then i started showering daily using H&S and stuff. after that i never felt flakey itchy or had dandruff.

i just bought nizoral 1% and it seems to make my hair look thicker and my scalp much less visible. i wonder if it was the shampoo i was using for quite a while that was causing the problem. i was using like cheap 1 dollar stuff (suave) now im using nizoral with some diffrent shampoo, probably gonna replace the shampoo i alternate with nizoral , and use H&S again even though i have no dandruff.

well i did a little research (asked my parents) and they said that my uncle started going bald when he was 23 and was full bald at 25. they also said that my dad (who still has great hair) inherited his hair from his fathers side NOT his mothers side (cuz his mothers was all bald). it would be great if i got the same strong hair gene, but unfortunately im the only one in my family that looks like my mom! everyone else has light skin/blue eyes/lighter hair im the only one (out of 4) too have brown eyes/dark skin/dark brown hair. though oddly enough the texture (not color) of my hair is very simmilar too that of my older brother (who looks like my father). can anyone tell me if there is any coorelation with getting the same looks as getting the same hairline? also i found out that my mother's mother has brothers that kept their hair for a fairly decent time (past 50 i think). i looked at pictures of me and my uncle we look very similar although his frontal hairline is about a Norwood 2 in highschool. he didnt have diffused balding either he had a receding hairline. sooo what do you guys think of this?

very difficult to know genetics like that i think, i think u can inherit certain genes from your mother and some for your father, so you wont know for sure unti later, i don't know much about genetics or medication for baldness, but certain users here do, go see a derm, and also see if you can get that propecia medicien or something to counter attack before it's too late

looking at your family history is a decent indication, but in the end should not be any type of decisive indicator of male pattern baldness, it can help with an educated guess but thats about it... you could have no male pattern baldness in your family and get it...

With hairloss, it is always necessary to be realistic and not overly optimistic, if you have suspicions, because it will get worse and worse if left untreated. I think you do have male pattern baldness but you should consult a dermatologist. The reason I say this is that I am about 8 years older than you and the top of your head looks like a denser version of my own and I definitely have male pattern baldness.
