Male 22..Stopping finasteride after using it for 3 Years

Greetings.

I was around 19 when i started with finasteride..I used to take 1 gm a day along with a additive of minerals and vitamins(Mostly zinc based capsules)once a day.

I am moderately happy with my result.I am not too sure if it has stopped my hairfall completely but so far i cant be visibly bald unless i am standing under a strong bulb.I maintain high and tight hair cut which makes a visual appeal which makes me look less bald than i am..

i went for a semen analysis.just like that and the results are shocking for a 22 year old who excercises regularly..doesnt smoke and very occasionally drinks.

The results dated 22/11/2014 are--

Total sperm count per ml-8 million
Total sperm ejacuated-12 million(means i ejacuated around 1.5 ml sperm)
Motility-Only 20% have sluggish linear progress...10% are non progressive and over 70% are non motile(In a normal case..There should be atleast 50% motile sperm)
Abnormal sperms(with abnormalities of head/neck/tail)-70%
My testesterone levels are however normal.



i have stopped taking finasteride and i can only hope that the results would bounce back.I have also abstained from mastubration(i think i will do it once every two weeks or less).I will keep you posted.My next test is scheduled in 30 days.



My only question is that should i continue using minoxdil 10?..Is there any link between minoxdil and sperm count/quality/mobility?..


and my only advise to all those men who are married/want to get married/who want to keep that option open..is to get a semen analysis test done no matter how hard your erections are..My testesterone levels are more than normal but my c*m isnt..Get yourself tested..

What issues will your sperm results cause?

I am uneducated on the issue, but it has never concerned me in the slightest.

You say you're testosterone levels are normal ?

What was the results ? Normal varies for age .

Also we need to see e2 and lh and fsh .


Propecia might not even be the issue .

But just because your sperm counts are low doesn't mean you cant have a child. It just means it's harder to make children naturally. 99.9% of your sperm could be useless but it only takes 1 to make a child (through artificial means)

Your levels are low but it doesn't really matter. You will still be able to have children at those levels no problem. Even "infertile" men (they are classified as such) can still have biological children

finasteride also does not effect the quality of the genetic material of the remaining healthy sperm

Yeah man definitely doomed both ways, scares the crap out of me being only 20. It wouldn't matter anyway if I stopped taking propecia because of it, the only thing I'd have a chance of getting pregnant then would be my hand.

I would say if you are having good luck with the drug, then just stay on it. Don't let these guys get in your head and talk you into a decision that you will regret.

You shouldnt panic if you dont really need to get your natural sperm count/sperm mobility..(That is you are trying to have a child)..

Still get it done..What would a semen analysis cost?You should know that this drug is affecting you down there..If your semen analaysis is normal..bingo!!You are in the lucky majority who doesnt need to worry about all this unlike me.

Also i would like to add from my personal point of view is that we shoudnt go for finasteride or duta right from the start.

First line of offense against baldness should be minoxdil 5-10%..See if it works for 4 months..if it doesnt..then only start using finasteride/duta.

The doctor i am seeing(who has a lot of experiance in this field)recently went to a conference where there was a heated debate on doctors blindly prescribing these meds.Truth is that it does work wonders(in 90% of men)..The consensus they could agree upon was informing younger patients about getting a semen analysis done.Older patients who dont want to have a child anymore need not worry about all this.


BTW..finasteride doesnt only affect sperm count..it strongly affects sperm mobility and sperm quality(70% of my sperm had irregular head and tail)..However even the doctor said the parameters bounce back to normal within 3 months of stopping the drug.



I AM NOW APPLYING MINOXDIL ONCE A DAY IN MY BID TO SAVE WHATEVER IS LEFT ON MY HEAD.what do you think are my odds now?

ALSO is no flap theory against hairfall credible.??Any personal experiancces you guys can share?

Yes there are artificial means..but i just think that i should stick to a only minoxdil regime with no flap factor added to it instead of popping pills which change composition of my bodily fluids.Heard of bio-accumulation?We need to think of all this from that factor too?

I personally dont want to ever father a child..but i will keep that option open.

Not really, counts and motility are very important for pregnancy. It might only take one sperm for conception, but it also takes tens of millions for escort.

Morning glory is back..semen is thicker..i just masturbate once a week..erections are way harder


Hairloss...too little to judge right now..i am doing 10% minoxidil once a day..and just flap once in a while

Whatever hair you gained/saved over the years while taking finasteride will be gone within a few months. That's a given. At least you are regaining your sexual health. Do you plan on trying any experimentals? If not, expect to go bald. Hopefully you can find a woman to use your boner on.

lol! seriously though if it goes back to normal after only 15 days then give it a few months and your semen will be back to normal so if you ever want a child then just stop finasteride for a while seems simple to me

I had another sperm test on 25/12/2014 and the parameters now are
sperm count-32 million per ml(Which is quite normal although not good)...annd motility is 20% rapid,10% sluggist and around 70% not motile


so sperm count did improve...and so did motility..

i am almost normal in nearly 40 days..
