This is a main reason why steroids increase hairloss as they increase testosterone levels therefore increasing the amount of T available for conversion to DHT. Of course, you can have all the DHT in the world and as long as your cells have no sensitivity to DHT, you will not see significant increases in body hair or hairloss.

Well done, finally someone sums it up in a straightforward and logical answer. :)

Then thats just how your DNA has dictated that you're supposed to be.

I have ZERO body hair. People think I shave my arms and legs and at 34 I cannot grow a full beard or moustache.

My hair started thinning when I was 22.

Do you mean that your DNA dictated your supposed to lose your hair later on? Or that it will have no correlation for you?

The short answer is, you really don't know for sure. Howeve, IMO at the age of 34 with absolutely no signs of hairloss, it is a safe bet that you are in the clear for the most part. It is unlikely that all of the sudden you will start balding and be a Norwood-5 in two years. Of course, most men seem to suffer from some degree of hairloss as they age so in time you may see some loss. Though it is a very good sign that you have made it into your 30's with no signs of male pattern baldness.

A great example proving my point from the start of this post, it is the follicles that determine hair growth interaction with DHT not the DHT itself. In my family, all the men are hairy beasts but only about 25% have suffered a significant amount of hairloss by the age of 35.

What about if you have a lot of body hair at the age 21-22, but no hair loss?

Sorry, I need to read with understanding as I confused you with another poster on this topic.
Anyways, 22 with tons of body hair doesn't really tell you anything about possible male pattern baldness in the future. It does show that you do have follicles on your body that are sensitive to DHT and perhaps you could even have higher DHT levels. What is more important is for you to take stock in your family history on both of your parents side. This will be your best indicator of potential male pattern baldness in your genetic make-up.

I should also add that I was not a great responder to finasteride or dutasteride.
