I have an oily forehead, but I really can't see my vertex so I don't know about that.

Here is the reason why I asked and why this may be important:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 170645.htm

Here is a quote from that story:
Epidermal stem cells give rise to the outer layer of the skin that serves as a barrier for the body, as well as follicles that produce hairs and sebaceous glands that produce lipid oil to lubricate the skin. In aged skin, a protein called Smad7 is overproduced, which triggers hair loss and sebaceous gland growth.

As it says, the protein called smad7, when it is overproduced causes hair follicles to switch from producing hair to producing sebaceous glands that produce lipid oil to lubricate the skin.

This may be what happens in male pattern baldness when DHT attaches to DNA in the nucleus and somehow causes the production of smad7 to be overproduced.
