Male Pattern Baldness Is So Cruel...

After being a member in this forum, walking around at school, at the gym, outdoors, etc, gives you a new perspective on balding.

There are teachers that are legit 40-50 years of age with complete NW1s and 18 year olds with NW3. The worst thing about it, the people with hair would have detrimental loss of facial aesthetics if their hair were lost.

Some people are just extremely lucky.. I guess.

Just looking around in a class shows how different everyone is. I'm in a class of 20 and atleast 10 have some form of hairloss (NW1.5 or higher OR thinning while I have teachers that are 50+ of age and have better hair than the students, lol. It feels like it should be the exact opposite.

I even sometimes think about whether some teachers are taking finasteride for a long period of time, because their hair just looks amazing. I had one teacher who had really bad hair, but it improved with time. Always wondered if he started taking meds or anything like that.

Can anyone relate?

You're weird bro leave people's hair alone

Am I weird for being observant of an issue I have with myself, to the extent that I unconsciously think about these things and compare them to others?

Your argument is weak. If a person is ashamed of something, e.g. hair, the person will obviously notice the issue amongst others. Try to think through a balding 18-year olds perspective before you decide to call someone weak for expressing themselves.

It's called Norwood spotting. It's a blessing yet a curse.

Yeah, I can understand how you feel. I'm 18 too. You go to high school and your 35 years old teacher has intact hair and you are 18 and balding. You don't understand that because you are supposed to have thick and long hair. That's what high school movies teach us, lmao

i do the same thing man, dont feel bad. It's like i do it without consciously thinking. All we are doing is comparing ourselves.

Dude I'm fucked. I'm turning 19 soon and I already have a hectic receding hairline on either side of me head and my friends pointed out to my just yesterday that I have a bald spot on my crown. I was shattered. #ripme.

Yet people still argue that everyone loses some hair as they age. Are we sure about that because some guys like these dont. Id admit its very rare in older men much more so then women, but I also think male hormones are a large part why that is.
It is tougher though the younger you are. When you get older though it doesnt get any easier although some people care a lot more then others or just accept male pattern baldness for what it is. Its not an easy thing to fix or treat as of now since nothing works that amazingly well

In my opinion it's easier to cope with baldness when lets you are 40, have wife and kids, career and financially stable. But if you are lets say 25, straight out of college, looking for a job and have no girlfriend than baldness can be pretty stressful.

What's your take on telling friends or people you know and spot early on?

I want to help with suggestions. I wish I would have started early and want others too as well.

Impolite or helpful? Hmmm

I say go for it if you can bring up the conversation subtly. It's a awkward subject to bring up, especially to another guy. I'd definitely bring it up somehow to a close friend or relative, especially if they are in the early stages. Doesn't hurt to try and give them the option to improve something in their life.

I realized I was a norwood spotter when I realized I was analyzing almost every person at the gyms hair at one point. I've toned it down now, but sometimes it just comes naturally. It's akin to trying not to stare at a big *** on a girl. One is not a waste of time :). It's great to be able to identify and provide input if I do see a close friend/relative balding, but I really wish I wouldn't check out hairlines so often. It really is a curse.

Little story:
One of my co worker is 45? He has a norwood 0 or 1, very low, thick hairline, with no signs of receding. Think Ronald Regan hair, but thicker. I mentioned how, he's the god of hair. That he has the best hair in the company. Someone mentioned my hair and said "Your hair too".

It shows how oblivious most are to norwood levels(my hair really is not that great) yet subconsciously can relate to nice/bad hair.

You guys are all lucky spotting male pattern baldness at young age, don't know why but I just started noticing until around 24; already heavily receded and just on time to save my crown. A positive thing is that I didn't worry at all about my hair until 24, didnt even know what a norwood was back then (good old times lol).

However getting back to there, I find myself worrying less everyday. My advice: jump on propecia and relax and stay of these forums for some months. This will calm your mind for sure.

Leave it alone unless they bring it up to you... they still have that whole denial stage to go through on their own, and you pointing it out sometimes looks like you're just hating on your friend.

I'm very open with my hairloss and when I'm with friends and we're all together we all throw around a couple shots... some of us are balding to different degrees... anyways we were at supper once and a friend asked me if I was able to notice hairloss on his head... unfortunately he was visibly thinninfnand receding so that's what I told him. His rebuttal was that I'm looking too deep into it and his hairline was always like that... I just told him he might be right and shut my mouth... this was 5 months ago, dude has tried like 4 different hairstyles from then on, I wonder why ;)
