Hello everyone,

Just noticed recently after coming back from Europe that my hair thinned a fair bit at the front of my head. My back is fine and it's the same thickness. I don't see any recession, possibly some due to natural age. Any ideas? I don't seem to be losing hair at the temples either. Just the top of my head is visible under intensity lights and the places where my natural parts are, are more revealed. Hairdresser and my mom fmr. hairdresser mom say stress. I've been chronically stressed my whole life. Maybe the European diet made my body reject bad American hormones??? haha Will have better pictures tomorrow. My hairline has always been naturally high and a little thing on top, but not like this.

There seems to be a little thinning in the crown. The front is the main concern. Mine is very similar and I think a visit to the Doctor is required to get some answers.

Bump, it has gotten worse on the front, I can feel my scalp a fair bit and my hair is falling out quick.
I'm hoping its a health issue at this point. Something I can fix. Going to see the dermatologist Thursday.....
I see four or five hair in my hand every time a touch my hair, no regression on the sides, temples or back.....

Looks like male pattern baldness. For treatment look up Big 3 finasteride/min/nizoral

Looks like male pattern baldness, everyone always think it's stress, diet or anything other than male pattern baldness before realising it's male pattern baldness, I did it too. And I don't think hairdressers know anymore about hairloss than the average joe. But on a positive note you still got good hair.

So for some reason I can't start a thread but I have seen some posts over the months on here and I've kinda noticed some people lose hair in different ways. My hairline hasn't receded but it's noticeably thin around the temples and I have also noticed that my crown area has started to thin. I am basically thinning everywhere except the back and my sides (although I am losing a small number of hairs just around the ear).
But when I look at your pictures you seem to have receding hairline and some thinning around crown but the rest of the hair is thick! Now for me where the male pattern baldness is acting all my hair is more or less the same thinness, what's going on here? Most of my friends don't even notice I am losing hair but just in 2 years I have gone from SUPERTHICK hair to extremely dry, brittle and thin hair. I am seriously contemplating just getting a buzzcut because it's so thin!!!

Some family history:

Mother side: Uncle (40 years old has a full head of hair). Grandad (Died 78 years old - Full head of hair). Granddad brothers all had hair when they passed away and and the one that is still alive who's 92 years old has a full head of hair. My mother's granddad (on father's side) passed away with full head of hair. My grandmas brothers all have a full head of hair and the ones that are dead passed away with full head of hair. My mother's granddad (on mother's side) had a full head of hair when he died. Basically godly hair genes on mother's side.

Father's side: Father started balding age 20 - currently Norwood 7. All my father's brothers are bald ranging from NW4-NW7. My grandad died NW7. My father's granddad (father's side) was bald. My grandma had no brothers but her father was bald. 100% **** hairgenes.

Honestly I think what my father's family did should be illegal. My mother's strong hair genes couldn't do anything about that!!!

For treatment options I actually flew all the way from Sweden to New York to get PRP + Acell done by Dr.Amiya Prasad. It cost me 5k dollars but he said it was a one-time treatment. As of yet I can't say I am happy with the results, cause my hair hasn't gotten any better, if anything I feel like my hair is thinner, but he's telling me it's too early to assess results (It's been 6 months). So we'll see.... He's a great Doctor and has had som great results and seems trustworthy so fingers crossed!

I tried finasteride but got sides so I stopped. Never tried Rogaine. Have been using Nizoral 2x week but going down to 1 time as I don't thing my scalp can take it (very itchy, and hair looks really tired).

P.S. I am 20 years old (turning 21 in November).

Dang, I was hoping that wouldn't have been it.Scalp has been itching around the area of hair thinning. Seeing the derm Thursday. I appreciate everyone telling me their opinions. Hopefully I can be completely certain and work my way from there. It seems odd when I run my hands through my hair and find ten hairs, something is unnatural here and it seems worse than male pattern baldness

Looks like male pattern baldness. Just like others have said, people always seem to think its not male pattern baldness related, but 99% of the time it is. Get on finasteride if you even want a shot of holding onto what you have.

Definitely male pattern baldness. Sorry. But stress could be exasperating it. Long-term stress has made me lose about 200 or more hairs per day. These hairs seem to grow back once you reduce your stress levels, though. Avoid anything that puts strain on the nervous system, especially stimulants like some drugs, even if they make you happy, it's still stress on the nervous system and can cause hairloss if you are already stressed. Avoid taking life seriously for a little while.

Get on biotin 1 daily, rogaine twice daily, (my preference) 0.25mg to 0.50mg propecia daily, and ketaconazole shampoo 1 to 3 times per week. Adjust regimen as needed, but if all goes well you'll be back to normal within 6 months and a full, stable recovery and maintence within 1 year.

Hair transplant may be necessary to fill in some hair that refuses to stay put or grow back, but if you start on a good regimen now the hair transplant will not be expensive.

Went to Derm, she looked at it and said it's male pattern baldness. I really didn't need this right now. I feel it has gotten worse and I see it in the lighting (Can see my whole front scalp) without lighting it's invisible. Breaking out the Rogaine I've been saving till I got confirmation. The back is apparently fine! Might only lose my front.

...... Stuff is just piling on me, I wish this wasn't true.

EDIT: Added pictues; Two weeks later...... I feel a drop in my heart. I'll accept it some day but I can't watch it now. I want to use all the time I have left, but it hurts. I never even had a girlfriend, just was starting to feel better and on top of everything for once in my life.

You would need finasteride/Propecia should have asked your derm for a script.

I have one, I don't want to deal with the nasty side effects of finasteride. Have any stories? Added more photos, how bad? Can I save it? Hair is still there in the balding areas, just very small. As everyone can tell, my hair was always thick, this is God's joke now, but he's not going to make me laugh at it, I'll laugh at him in return.

I think I have the head to pull off the shaved look.

I respect your personal choice yet (as you know) w/o finasteride., it's a greater chance you'll need to deal with progressively nastier aftermath of male pattern baldness.
Best of luck whichever route you take.

Thanks for the advice anyhow, my parents keep telling me it's not male pattern baldness.... i can't handle that they're not listening..... I don;t want to lose my hair but I don't need these nasty sides effects. They keep telling me there's hair growing in the balding spots..... I wish I knew what I could tell them, it's just making me angrier and losing more hair. None of my family ever lost hair.....just diffuse thinned at most. or from cancer.

I had a similar experience with family. The truth can hurt, but its a double edge sword when loved ones get it wrong by listening their hearts instead of your concerns, consequently jeopardizing your narrow opportunity of optimum male pattern baldness medical intervention and recovery potentiality.

It hurts. The one thing I wanted was a full head when I grew old. My brother has autism and my sister is mentally impaored. I just wanted to be normal, now this hair loss is getting in my way. Sorry to be emotional, but I'm very upset. This isn't a matter of accepting it, it's the matter of watching it happen slowly. If I shave it off I might lose my last chance of full hair. I don't know what to do, I don't see the worth in paying $1000$ for hair transplants or sex impotent pills.... the hair transplants I heard can cause necrosis.

We all go through it, just realize its not all lost and you have the option to fight it. Be proactive even if you don't want finasteride now, start minoxidil at least.

Thank you, it just bothers me. My brother bothers me about not shaving. What's he going to think when he sees me with no hair? He's severely autistic. Your words made me feel a fair bit better. Here's to hoping I can save what I can, there's still hair in the balding spots, might be able to flip it around.

Is it possible it could be Telogen Effluvium? My scalp has been itchy. All this hair loss has only happened over a period of really two months noticeably. This summer was high stress and depression, I didn't really go outside.... And the dermotology clinic didn't really check me. Idk, parents are looking into another dermotologist. Going to take Rogaine but take small doses of Finasteride if I decide to take that pill. Rogaine won't cause any harm. The derm didn't really do anything but look at my hair..... I'm also going to do bloodwork. If nothing points to something similar I'm going to cut my hair off once it gets unbearable. In non-lit areas you can't see any loss. I'm not sure how bad it looks to all of you. I'm very self concious.
