Marijuana Causes Hairloss????

I remember being told, by a councilor in high school that smoking marijuana can cause hair loss.

And now that I think about it, just about every single guy I knew that smoked pot on a regular basis had some if not a lot of hairloss over the years.

So is there any validity in this claim

I don't think so, that's just an old wives tale. Look at Snoop dog, or Willie Nelson,LOL!

I have a lot of friends that still do, and they have strong hairlines....

True, how about our good friend.. the late Mr Marley as well, and he even dreaded his hair, so I guess it just might be, lol.

It has been brought up enough times though to create discussion..

I think that it is more likely to slow down hair loss, because it lowers Testosterone levels.

''Effects of marijuana on testosterone in male subjects.
Barnett G, Chiang CW, Licko V.''

Abstract
''Clinical studies have given contradictory reports on the effect of smoking marijuana on the plasma levels of testosterone in males. A reanalysis of existing data established that testosterone levels are depressed both after smoking one marijuana cigarette and after intravenous infusion of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, a pharmacologically active component of marijuana. Simulation of the marijuana interaction, under the assumption that delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol inhibits testosterone production or secretion, suggests a minimum of 24 hours are required for testosterone to return to pre-smoking levels. A series of clinical studies are specified to clarify the nature of the interaction.''

I smoked daily for around four years, and my hair loss was pretty slow (while smoking) considering it started in my early teens. It really started accelerating after I quit....
For me I used to smoke weed habitually for quite a few years, and my hair loss did seem to start at the peak of my smoking at age 19, however this all could just be a coincidence. I did stop a few years ago and my hairloss continued so yeah..

Smoke on fellas, smoke on :punk:

High School counselors say anything to lure kids away from substances. Hell they use to tell me not to use condoms because they break all the time, abstinence!!! LOL! They're idiots

i believe maurijuana was ok in the old days, but now with newer hydroponic set ups, has become quite a bad drug.

and yes, u can still get old style weed that isnt hydroponic, but most people ive known choose the stronger stuff because it gets them higher.

still i believe most people handle it ok, but for a minority it triggers schizophrenia and paranoia. (but these conditions may have come about anyway, theres no way of knowing).

anyway i think its these mega paranoid people that it causes hairloss issues for.
and possibly it makes male pattern baldness worse for those with the gene.

That's right Anxious1, smoking cannabis seems to roughly double the chances of schizophrenia in those people who are already at risk of developing psychosis, heavy use can increase your risk by six fold!

No connection between pot and hairloss that I know of, but it can't do much to help ;)

I'd like to see your sources troll. And the solution for that would be for people with a genetic disposition to schizophrenia to not smoke.

Hydroponics doesn't have to do with quality bro, lol, its a growing method. Back in the 70's there was the same strength weed as some of the best today, it just wasn't prevalent. Most of the stuff back them wasn't grown and cured right.

And they do very well. You too need to check out the link I posted previously.

I don't know in which context this has been said, but they are right, although not for the "they break all the time" part. There are STDs that condoms can do nothing against, sometimes even when the infection is latent with no outward symptoms. You know that, right?
