You know, I never really got into Spencer's talk show. Not because I think he's a douche (he is), but rather because no amount of listening to his show will actually solve anything. For example:

'I just listened to 27 episodes of The Bald Truth that lasted about 45 hours, but I'm still bald.'

That's the problem. His show doesn't fix hair loss. Hair fixes hair loss. I don't see how listening to that douchebag is going to solve anything, all the dude does in the hair loss community is reap the benefits off us from the doctors that advertise and solicit on his site and forums. A more interesting topic would be 'How the fvck do WE ourselves solve this disease?'

I don't understand all the Spencer Kobren hate. Is it because he makes money off of hair loss, but doesn't contribute to the cure? I personally don't have a problem with him or his show. Nothing wrong with coming up with an idea and making a money off of it. It's the American way! If he was hurting people I would understand the hate, but I have yet to hear him give advice that would actually hurt somebody. Maybe his message might not be what we want to hear. I get it that people are tired of hearing the same old Propecia, minoxidil, and transplants BS, but whether we like it or not, it is pretty much all we have.

What do you guys expect him to do? Lead the charge for a cure? I think there is plenty of motivation($$$$$$$) for somebody/anybody to figure this **** out.

not to mention spencer kobren has ZERO hair loss, not even receding. wtf is with that?

is it a hairpiece?

Of course he has hair loss. Who the hell would have that hair style if they didn't have to?

yeah he has said many times he uses meds, concealers and combover to produce that result
it looks like he has a full head of hair when he is sitting safely inside his studio but a nice gust of wind would probably expose him

Kind of, yes. Everyone in his audience is a baldness suffering pawn and he's taking advantage of each and every one of them. His forum is a joke; there is no way of communicating via private messages. Comments on the forum are edited and/or removed even if they don't violate any forum rules. Members are put into 'moderation mode' which means all your posts are screened before they go live. The crowdfunding thread was deleted without warning. Any mention of other hair loss forums can receive a ban. Trying to reach out to other members via email does the same. In general, he's gimped any potential efforts by the community to come together and do anything credible. I could go on. But worst of all, other than flap his gums about finasteride, minoxidil and hair transplants, he's done absolutely NOTHING to push new treatments for a faster release. Interviews with Cotsarelis, Lauster, Christiano, etc. have never happened. EVEN when the community offered to pay for his expenses he declined.

I personally don't have a problem with him or his show. Nothing wrong with coming up with an idea and making a money off of it.
There is though... it's at our expense.

I get it that people are tired of hearing the same old Propecia, minoxidil, and transplants BS, but whether we like it or not, it is pretty much all we have.
And that's a problem. Simply shrugging your shoulders and saying 'well, what are you going to do?' is useless. Spencer is a known figure despite all his exposure over the years... where's his effort?

What do you guys expect him to do? Lead the charge for a cure?
Well... yeah! He's made himself be somewhat of an ambassador for the hair loss community. Like I said, we even offered to pay for his trip to World Hair Congress.

I think there is plenty of motivation($$$$$$$) for somebody/anybody to figure this **** out.
You'd think so, but no... Lauster said plans for human trials were 'under way' nearly 5 years ago. Follica has been d!cking around for about 10 years and we're still in limbo. Histogen needs one last phase trial for a release in Asia and this has been stalled for 2 years now. Aderans had a working method (though not a cure) and had the rug pulled from underneath them. Christiano made that JAK inhibition discovery and has effectively snubbed 99% of the hair loss community. In between them all there's been nearly or more than 100 discoveries on other methods of treating hair loss... but always done on fvcking mice... not one of them has made it to any clinical trials or even a simply case study on a human. You could count todays clinical trials on ONE hand with a couple fingers missing. That kind of progress is god damn pathetic.

I really do NOT see that much motivation. Bald men have effectively been snubbed from every facet of life.

So how about WE put up a msg or guide or something that show's off some other products that help with one's hair and leave the BIG 3 out of the equation. Its been 20 years and no new discovery has been used until now.Just trials and comments on them be like "We promise baldies just 5 years and we gonna get you your mane back"

I think the show's main goal is just to allow people to vent just like this forum does for you. I don't think this forum is going to give you more hair either. But it would be great for you to call in and ask him that question and see how he responds. I think you would make a great caller to represent what goes thru the mind of a hair loss sufferer.

Hell yes he should call in. That show would be an instant classic.
