Mature hairline ... or not ?

Hello , I would just like our opinions about this pic , mature hairline or not ?

I'm still uncertain about my hairloss ,because of the diffuse loss on all the scalp.
As soon as I will finish my exams I will take care of this and try to sort this out but in the meantime I'd like to know what you people think .

Right and left side are a little different , nothing noticeable on the crown .

I've changed the image so you can see the eyebrows .
Really NW3 ? I've got nothing on the crown .

I would agree, looks a bit beyond mature hairline, I would say early stages of Norwood 3. Forelock is a bit high and there is some considerable recession in the corners.

We'd love to tell you the opposite, however this is male pattern baldness surely. Any bald(ing) guys in your family?

WAY beyond a mature hairline.

The earlier you accept it and get on meds, the better you will be in the end.

Hard to tell from that pic.

One thing though, is that most people on this forum are pessimistic and over state hair loss. It could be a mature hairline that will stay like that for 20+ years or it could be early balding. My dad has the same hairline and has had it since he was like 22 and is 45 now.

A better way to tell would be to do Rasmussen's test. Do that thing where you "lift your forehead" to make wrinkles. The highest wrinkle is where your juvenile hairline is/was.

A mature hairline will be no more than half an inch away from that wrinkle in the center of the hairline. And no more than an inch and half away at the temples.

Those are just general guidelines, but if my dad came to this forum when he was 22 he would have been told to get on meds for no reason.

No one is saying that he'll be Norwood 6 by next week. He asked if it was a mature hairline and he got our honest answers. It very well could stop there and not progress for all I know. I don't know his family history.

If the hairline was a gentle curve, relativly straight like a horizontal ) then I'd say yeah its just a high/mature hairline. But your temples seem much further receeded than the centre. Also if there is any thinning of the density of the hairline it does'nt look good either.

I think everyone in the forum could learn a lesson form this guy. He is how non-neurotic people view hair loss at this stage.. virtually unnoticeable.

Yeah thats true is usually the other way around on here, ie NW1's who think that they're bald. I know guys who are NW2.5 and dont consider themselves to have any hairloss at all. Before I started suffering from this I would'nt have noticed anything less than a NW3 and would'nt have even considered that as balding. Remember even NW3's still have 75% of their hair ontop left.

I disagree, no disrespect to the OP but I'm shocked he's lost this much hair and is only now beginning to consider that he has male pattern baldness. Maybe a norwood 2 I would give a pass but a 3? Thats significant hair loss. Seems to me like a little bit of denial.

But for a lot of people its not even a big deal. Its like some people can be 5lbs overweight and stress about it whilst others can be 20lb and it does'nt bother them especialy if they're over 25. I'd say his opinions represent how most men in society see hairloss.

PS I would'nt class him as a full NW3 at all.

Well, I'm not saying that people will look at him and say, "OMG he's so bald!" lol. To most people it still looks like a relatively normal head of hair. However I think we should be more in touch with our bodies and recognize that something is up when we've lost over an inch on hour hairlines.

Does'nt happen overnight though does it?
I mean most 35 yr olds probably dont think they look too bad then compare it to a pic of when they were 20 and its like ....
:dropmouth:
Wrinkles, weightgain and general ageing just creep up on you. And thats what happens with most people who have a slow gradual loss.

Err NW2 is the most common hairline in the world. I would call NW2 the definition of mature hairline. A high degree of guys who have it will never really progress any further.
