Hofstadter's Law

Everyone on hair loss forums should familiarise themselves with Hofstadter's Law :)
Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.

It's important to remain objective and do what you can today. Don't pin your hopes on far-off treatments that we always have more questions about than answers. That's my advice for all the new members. This partnership is great news but talking release dates will only disappoint everyone. Let's hope they have something that works first.

100% Agreed. Have you heard anything else about Dr. Malcom Xing and the Chinese team working on DP cell culturing? I couldn't tell if they were able to retain gene expression or not.

That would be great :D;).

No not really! But I just asked him directly if these problems are not a issue anymore. Will report back when he responds.
You're the man!

Good to hear Malcolm X finally found his calling.

That's the whole point of the Hair Congress... but it's way too short of an event to get anything done as there's so much information that comes through.

Do you know if there's a transcript anywhere on the internet for Dr. Tsuji's Hair Congress presentation or any accompanying slides? I had some trouble understanding him but I imagine he had some good information.

None that I know of. I really doubt there is such a thing anywhere. It's too bad, some of the presenters would really benefit if they had someone else speaking on their behalf!

Just wanted to stop by and let you all know that Desmond has posted an excellent analysis of one of the most recent studies coming out of China regarding the creation of new hair follicles.

It is very well written and concise, plenty of good information. I recommend you all go read it!

Still mice...
I don't believe the issue was ever that it wouldn't translate to a human model. The point is that they've managed to create inductive high passage DP cells that maintain a consistent diameter. As I understand it, this method transcends the specific species it's being trialed on (which the scientists intend to prove soon, as he said). Make no mistake, this is very exciting progress.

What makes this different from replicel?

I suggest to look at the following video to get a feeling for what T. Tsuji is trying to achieve. It's easy to understand in the following video.

Put on the subtitles. The method of T. Tsuji is discussed till ~8 minutes in.

Thanks for this Swoop! So if I'm understanding correctly, Dr. Tsuji is developing his method without the incorporation of IPS cells for expansion?

Wow!

Hellouser says there aren't many researchers working on hair loss and he's right.

50 or less scientists are working on hair loss.

More money for them when they release a cure to the public!

Correct, jup :). Tsuji is relying on dermal papilla cells + epithelial stem cells. He will take a biopsy from the back of the head and isolate the cells.
Figure 1.Cell communication (black arrows) between epithelial stem cells (SC), progeny and dermal papilla (DP) cells occurs throughout hair follicle development and regeneration.

I HIGHLY doubt his work was destroyed. He's probably just waiting for a more appropriate time to announce his findings.
