Why does Merck not just reformulate oral finasteride over to a topical version and solve all the permanent side effect complaints? They also then get the patent back for a lot longer. Rogain has done that over the years just reformulate from liquid to foam to get a new patent and charge a fortune for it. Topical finasteride would basically solve all the crap everyone complains about, and on a larger scale the price will come down eventually.
Is it just because other products like CB are on the way so its not worth it or slow propecia sales? Topical finasteride or even dutasteride seems like the magic bullet, and we could have had it 10 years ago.

Because a topical formulation will get into the bloodstream and give u the same side effects.

He is saying finasteride will go systemic either way. A topical version would just be a messier, less effective version of the pill while still giving all the same sides

Lowering blood serum DHT levels is pretty much how finasteride works for hair loss by bringing down the accumulative amount of DHT present in the hair follicle, it most likely has little effect on the levels of DHT in the DP as they are also producing 5aR.

Wait a moment. You mean this will happen with finasteride or with just every topical treatment? Because otherwise why would exist topical tratments at all? Topical spironolactone doesn't have the sides of systemic spironolactone, I hope, right?

That's your belief, polichem's trials will let us know if this is true. They played with the dosage and vehicle until they could get severe reduction in the scalp with minor reduction in the blood.
