Hi,

I've been a member for a few days and I've already obtained a handful of good information, so I thought it was time to give..

I'm lactose-intolerant, so I drink plenty of soy milk.
I'm also an avid green tea drinker (vitamin c, anti-toxicity, faster lipid breakdown, etc)

I didn't know that this combination was already doing me well..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dihydrotestosterone

The chemical equol, derived by consuming foods rich in soy isoflavones by persons with certain digestive-tract bacterial flora, appears to have an androgen-inhibitive effect.
Green tea, in many studies, has been found a potent DHT inhibitor[citation needed] . However, in one trial using mice, both the testosterone and DHT levels increased. However, if the isoflavones in soy are also ingested, the green tea has a synergetic decreasing effect on DHT.

I do wonder how legitimate wiki is sometimes, but heck this is a new discovery.

So if you're already a green tea drinker, drink soy milk as well for better results.

a point to note with regards to soy milk.

if you are drinking it, be sure to get one from a health food store that uses the whole soy bean.

many soy milks found in supermarkets only use the protein isolate from the soy bean. this can cause complications, as well as the fact it doesn't have half of the goodness of the soy bean anyway so it would be a waste of time.

there's a multitude of soy milks out there that use the whole soy bean, and they specify it on the package. so just check them out at an organic/health food store. i'm in australia so i only know the brands here.

Equol should have almost exactly the same effect as finasteride or dutasteride. I'd use either one of those two drugs, rather than spend my money on something as new and expensive and risky as equol.

Green tea is no secret.

Moreover, Bryan is right. More powerful anti-androgens exist than Finasteride, and none is wildly more effective than it is at regrowth.
