i am thinking about using it to thicken up my hairline.
on the box of 5% it says it will work for 48 weeks an then you lose the
growth slowly.
will you lose all the growth, most or some?

so can you use this for the rest of your life?

Minoxidil has been studied for periods of up to 5 years. Most people reach maximum effect at 1 year (maximum regrowth) and then have a slow decline in haircounts over the next years. Still, at 5 years, the average haircount was more than at the start of the study (they were better off than they started and avoided the 5 years of worsening in that area). A few continued to gain hair thru the 5 years, and a few continued to lose throughout the five years. No way to know how it will work for you without trying it.

There is no reason to think that it will "quit working" but that doesnt mean that you wont eventually worsen past baseline, just that minoxidil alone cant halt male pattern baldness completely. The fact that it is still working years from now when you quit it will be confirmed by the shed over the next few months of the hair that minoxidil had saved you, down to the level you would have been if you never took minoxidil.

So, no way to know how it will work for you unless you try it, and If you do try it keep on "for the rest of your life" or until you dont care what your hair looks like anymore and can deal with the shed of all the hairs your minoxidil may have saved you temporarily :?

PS> am I the only person that worries that the global economy will collapse making it impossible for me to obtain Dutas from India or minoxidil? And, is that selfish of me?

Minoxidil effects work indefinately, but eventually, left unchecked, other factors will take over and negate minoxidils influence over extending the anagen hair growth phase.

Please don't start with this nonsense. I remember people talking that chicken little crap 13 years ago when I was 17 and first studying economics. I'm still here, you're still here. Don't worry about things you have no control over.

And also, if the worlds economy goes down the toilet do you really think you're going to be online ordering minoxidil? No, you're gonna be riding shotgun on the way to loot the grocery store.

So shut up.

I was KIDDING .... I just forgot to put the smiley face by it to make it more obvious : )

If the world goes to hell I will shave my head, wear a doo-rag and leather, get tatoos and carry a shotgun. I anticipate no rude comments.
