I know there is a shedding phase, but what im experiencing is just insane. I have been shedding non-stop for the past 3 months now, since i started using minoxidil. I lose 50-80 hairs just from washing my hair, and probably 300-400 hairs per day, and there is zero signs of regrowth.
People are talking about " a few weeks in" but its been 3 god damn months for me now and it just continues. I lost more hair in those 3 months than i did in 5 years, its nuts. I feel like minoxidil is just making my hair worse, and ill never regrow anything

Are you doing anything for inflammation ? I know that Alex Somebody has a YouTube channel and talks about this. You should contact him.
He's been on minoxidil for years with full regrowth. He has lost and regained it multiple times I think.
He says, not dealing with the inflammation is usually the cause. Keto shampoo, in whatever form, should be used in conjunction with minoxidil.

This while concept of "the big one" makes me not want to get on at all. Does that really happen more than once to all minoxidil users?

I can’t speak for anyone but myself. But I am have had a handful of big ones over the years.

I just started taking Finasteride yesterday, so we’ll see if that has a positive impact on the big shed. My theory is that because I’m am only using minoxidil, the unchecked DHT is attacking my follicles and forcing them to shed enmasse. This is most likely the reason why doctors recommend using the two medications together.

I’ll update on this in a few months with more insight. Thanks for your comment Pixie.

Thanks for the response bro. The rest of your info was very encouraging. If I can avoid a big one, I'd have no issues min. Been heavily considering it these days

Whats even worse is the disgusting eyebags i get from it. I have never been insecure in my life, but minoxidil is destroying me, mentally. A little bit of eye bags is no problem but i see 80 year old men with better looking eyes than me. Its f*****g horrific. I wouldnt complain if my hair atleast regrowed but it doesnt. Im losing all my hair and my face looks so f*****g horrofic. I cant even go outside without feeling ashamed.

I just dont know what to do. I dont know if i keep using minoxidil, my hair will come back. I dont know if it just becomes worse and worse. I dont know if i should quit right now.
Sorry for the rant but im just so angry

@9982 I think i have a pretty healthy scalp. I use a bunch of different anti-inflammatory oils to keep my scalp healthy. Apart from a bit of minoxidil residue, my skin is clean.

I suffer from dark circles also. Whether they are completely attributed to the minoxidil or our 17mo old baby is unclear. But I do feel slightly self-conscious about it; so much that I got some concealer from Sephora. I use it when I film my videos.

I would like to say look at the long game. It's hard not to be focused on daily changes due to side effects of the meds. In the past, I tended to overanalyze even the slightest changes to my body since using minoxidil. But I understood that if I continued that way, it would just become a self-fulfilling prophesy and I would see (or imagine) all of the potential sides.

I wish there was more consolation I could offer. Hang in there 9982.

Thanks, I needed to hear this. I think Minoxidil has worked for me, at least in the beginning, as the area (right side on my head and where I part my hair) I tended to apply it more to seems to be thicker. But I feel like I have only been losing hair for the past 4 months. And it's almost always the thicker hair which falls. I also take Finasteride (though I am not very regular, maybe 4-5 times a week). I was, still am tbh, very worried that I've got all the gains I can get and am only going to keep losing hair from now on.

Judging by all these comments it seems like minoxidil is a complete waste of time. All the stories of losing ground and sheds makes you wonder why anyone would actually take it ?

I can't speak for the others, but I have had and continue to have good results from topical liquid minoxidil. Shedding in an unavoidable side effect, unfortunately and everyone experiences it differently.

Hmm. Try easy eye solutions. It takes practise to get the application right, but when you do it will restore youthfulness to the eye area, but only when you are wearing it. It's not permanent fix
