based on experience, which of these minoxidil brands do you guys feel to be the most superior minoxidil brand:

perfect image solutions

minoxidil max

rogaine

kirkland

mopc labs

ideal image solutions

spectral products

...or any other minoxidil products you guys might have used

5% Kirkland is the best value.

Spectral is the best 5% with added bells and whistles.

The 10% and 15%+ variations are questionably safe and unnecessary; keeping in mind if a 10% concentration of minoxidil or higher proved better than 5%, McNEIL would have monetized it somehow - years ago.

My derm has diagnosed Androgenetic Alopecia. Prescribed Minoxidil. She says it will maintain what I've got.

However, seeing the stories about Minoxidil exacerbating hair loss or causing more shedding makes me worried to even try it.

What do people think? Have you tried it? How did it work for you?

thanks for the informative input rogazzle. anymore input will be great as this thread can answer most people's difficult decisions on which minoxidil to choose based on all of the users personal experience.

I am biased since rogaine foam has been virtually the ONLY topical my head has ever been able to tolerate...but i love the stuff, and have used the kirkland as well- even if the PPG didnt present a problem for me, i would still not consider the savings to be worth it since it felt like i was applying motor oil to my scalp

Kirkland is the best. It's so cheap that it's truly a great deal.

The 15% Minoxidils are overkill and about 25% to 33% of the Minoxidil is undissolved when you receive it so you're really getting about 10%.

Hi Smity,
Would you mind to share which brand has 25% to 33% of the Minoxidil which is undissolved according to your experience? Or it applys to all brands? Also is it better to get just the 10% Minoxidil than 15%, because it is cheaper. Thanks!

I've only tried Perfect Image Solutions. I heard Minoxidilmax has the same problem. Not sure about MOPCS.

At the moment I only trust
- Rogaine/Regaine (Foam is the only thing I dare to use in the morning).
- Spectral UHP and Kirkland liquids. (Basically the budget choices from these 2 brands). They seem reputable and they help offset the price of Rogaine Foam!

I'm uneasy about the high-strength brands, but interested in Polaris because of its ties to DS Labs, who seem reputable.

I used to use xandrox 15 from dr. lee. However now that dr. lee has been shut down I have been trying rogaine foam for the past months and have seen all my gains go to waste.

I dont know if the shedding for the past three months with rogaine foam means that the foam is actually working or not. I'm still gonna give it some time

5% Kirkland

Is what I use, I noticed it performed better then rogain foam even and actually gave me hair regrowth which is strange... overall I do prefer rogain foam due to ease and quick dry and the fact it sorta makes my hair conditioned like a hair foam/moouse would, it actually makes my hair thicker and better overall in appearance which I dont get with kirkland, I may after a few months of using up my treatments move to kirkland foam.

Kirkland liquid does give me the itchy scalp more so then the foam I noticed however.... with daily washing or every other day it seems to keep it at bay though.

how long does it take to dry Kirkland 5% minoxidil? Someone mentioned that it never dries. If that is the case, I will never try it even though it is very cheap.

Please...! So not only finasteride and dutasteride, but even minoxidil is now the source of fear? You should always take into consideration that posts from internet forums are often hysterical and can't be taken much seriously. Minoxidil can't harm your hair, until you apply some excessive dosage like 15%. If you lose any hair on it, it will subsequently grow back.

I've used Rogaine 2% (you can only get this version in Canada without a prescription) Rogaine 5%, Rogaine Foam 5% as well as Kirkland 5%. I agree the best value is the Kirkland. I use to use only foam but I read an article in Men's Health that said the results in foam are unproven. It spooked me enough to jump back to the liquid.
