minoxidil tests on hairline

I have a question regarding Rogaine (minoxidil) on the hairline. It says in the phamplet that comes with that Rogaine is not to be used on the hairline but for the crown. I know the reason it says this is because the tests were done on the crown region only so they can not market it for a certain region of the head if clinical trials were not done in that part.

There seems to be alot of people who have had some success when using it on the hairline, at least in the forum community. My question is why dont they do clinical trials on the hairline? Then we would get a clearer consensus on the success rate in that region. As this web site claims that it does work on the hairline but just not as well as the crown. I guess I dont understand why they dont do trials so they can market it to work on the hairline, I would think that increase profits as more would be sold if that were the case. Or just market it that it works best on crown but also works on hairline to a lesser extent.

I just dont understand, why it advises you not to put on the hairline if you have nothing to lose and maybe a slight chance to regrow some hair. Maybe its the hair transplant lobby paying them not to advertise it that way (ha im kidding).

-Does anyone know if there has been any respected studies of trials done on the hairline? If so I would like to see the results.

The only study I have is my own and I regrew a LOT of hair at my hairline with Foam, finasteride and nizoral

I have never seen where it advises you not to use it at the ahirline just thta it wasn't test there.

I use a can of foam every 13 days and use it ahirline to crown with significant growth in all areas

the reason why rogaine says it wont work on hairline or hasnt been tested, is because (im sure) its for marketing reasons.

The hairline is the hardest part to regrow. Put minoxidil on the back it will work 80% of the time, put it on the hairline it might only work 20%.

So if i come out and say Rogaine regrows hair in 80% of the patients, by the way we didnt test it on the hairline. It would be true.

But if they included the hairline patients your looking at only 40% regrew hair.

I`m just wondering how you can see that the hairline is progressing?

I`m on both Propecia (7 months) and rogain ( about 2 months or so. ab it on and off but on 2 times a day for the last one-two months) and I can see that the crown has good regrowth/hair is thicker. When it comes to the front I lost some hair in the begining. This is caused by shedding and the hair will grow back? I can also see alot of white small hairs on both sides of the hairline (frontals? - sorry for about my english). Are there any signs that these will grow out and become brown hair again?

Any tips how you can see if the rogain works in the front? When i brushed my hair this morning there were only four-seven hairs in the sink afterwards.

Ive been using minoxidil on my hair line for almost 3 years and yeah hasnt improved it much if any at all, lots of minoxidil white tiny life less hairs yeah just not real hairs that never sprouted.

Some people say patience is key since in our lives our hair pattern goes thru the stages but after 3 years even im thinking of just stopping it all lol but havent risked it yet !

Liquid or foam ? IMO foam is MUCH BETTER

minoxidil is working well for me so far on the hairline, i'm about 5 months in now and have gone from a NW3 to NW2, although the regrown hair in my temples is obviously thinner than my existing hair and this becomes apparent when my hair is wet.

I don't think anybody should expect hairloss treatment to regrow their hair back to a NW1, no drug can do this.... except a Jamie Foxx hair transplant! :woot:

I think that the male pattern baldness process in the NW1-2 region is just too aggressive and that unless you start treatment no more than 2years after you begin receding, then you cannot hope to have a perfect hairline again, with or without minoxidil.

In all honestly though, by simply maintaining your current hairline over so many years, minoxidil is already doing a pretty good job. Even long term users of the mighty Finasteride, find that after 5 years or so their temples inevitable recede a little because the male pattern baldness process is simply too aggressive in that region to hold onto this hair. minoxidil helps to delay this by a good few years.

When you used the liquid, did you use a lot of it, like you use the foam?
