The foam is only made by Pfizer. It does not come in a generic version. Only the liquid.
I have been using the liquid twice a day for eleven years and I put it on right out of
the shower then use a little gel and by the time I am ready to leave it's dry.

At night I rinse the gel out of my hair and apply it a few hours before bed.

You can tell the liquid is on the scalp because it appears wet for a while.

When I previously used the foam it left a white residue on your scalp that disappears in about a half an hour.

Nope, I don't mind it. I mind the fact that it seems to have stopped working.

I've been using minoxidil for my hairline for 14weeks now. Apply it to my temples morning and night and it becomes like brushing your teeth.

I've definitely seen an improvement, not spectacular but still noticeable from a NW2.75 to a NW2.25 at present. So pretty happy so far!

Would like to get some foam instead of liquid though because it's a pain in the *** waiting for the liquid to dry in the morning before you style your hair, apparently the foam dries much faster.

I dont mind it. My routine nowdays are shower -> minoxidil -> shave(old school way! 1 blade razor FTW) - spironolactone. It whould ofc be alot easier to just not having to apply, but till not too big of a hazzle.

Primo. Try to wet your hair and gently towel it before you apply minoxidil. I find it to be faster absorbing/not visible that way. Or you might just need to change to another minoxidil brand. Dont know wich you are on now

It's a little annoying but you get used to it. My advice is to stay away from liquid b/c it irritates the scalp and takes a long time to dry and overall makes the experience much more of a pain.

i haven't started minoxidil but im looking into it, i bought some liquid but i wanna use foam first...

the only problem is rogaine brand name is the only foam, they have a patent for a few more years on it so :-\ its gonna cost more til generics start to exist

If you live in the USA, you can get rogaine foam from Amazon.com with subscribe and save for about 10 dollars a can. You can get a bottle of liquid for about 5 bucks but I think the additional 5 dollars is worth avoiding all the itching and irritation.

This is incredibly helpful, thanks for the money-saving tip!

Not a pain at all but I really can't let it dry much more than 10 mins before I have to apply coverup and blow dry...hope it still is effective this way in morning. At night it is applied over coverup.

It's probably a little more effective if you use it twice a day. Maybe it doesn't make a difference at all when using finasteride in addition. Anyway, I can't use it more than once a day. I've to use nizoral every morning because of sensitive scalp and seborrheic dermatitis. I'm still using 2ml every day.

I used the liquid for 5 months and got no regrowth so I just got fed up and stopped. It also made my hands hairier due to rubbing it into my scalp.

The main reason I stopped was when I realised that I don't want to keep doing this for 5 - 10 years or longer. If I got amazing results and had no sides then I would've carried on.

finasteride on the other hand is so much easier to use and has a better success rate..

Thanks for the tip, I see it for about $11 a can ( $32.93 for 3) but didn't realize you could get it delivered every other month

One thing i would like to add is if you use it hairline to crown like I do 2x's a day you will need at least 2 cans a month.

I used Rogaine a long time ago when it was a $60/month prescription so you are still only spending about $25/month using 2 + cans
