Basically it took finasteride 11 months and 25 days to kick in for me. My shedding and hairloss has decresed dramatically. June 1 2012 was my full year and on may 25 2012 my hairloss just stopped. Its like a miracle happened. almost for the entire year I was shedding just like I shedded pre finasteride. Basically I felt that propecia was doing nothing and as If I was talking the drug with mo affect at all. then boom it just stoped on may 25 2012, to this day. My hair kinda still looks the same, but a little worse than baseline. Mind you, the hairs that I was losing this year on finasteride were mostly weak miniturized hairs. is there a chance that since it took a year for finasteride to work for me, that in the coming months I can see thickening? maybe by year 2 I will be way better? any thoughts appreciated

My shedding stopped at the 6 month mark, and I am not seeing any regrowth (now month 9). But the region I am looking to regrow are my temples, and I know that is the hardest place to regrow hair.
But, I'd also like to know the answer to your question. I 2 shedded mostly miniturized hairs, and am wondering if they will come back thicker over time...

Happy to hear it's working out for you! Sometimes it takes a while to start working. Hopefully from here on out, you will see gradual thickening, or at the very least, no further hair loss. It's hard to say what your overall progress will be, but if you are noticing it is starting to work, that's a really good sign.

This is a good example of why people shouldn't give up before a year, because results can take some time.

See I remember telling you a few months back not to give up as you were contemplating on quiting. You were convinced that it wasnt working. It takes awhile for many to finally see results. Some take 14+ months. Its all about not giving up. Sadly, I'm willing to bet that most people give up prematurely and probably 75 percent of them would have been a success story had they stuck with it.

Anyways, congratulations on your success and not giving up. Now what you need to do is to encourage others that are looking to quit prematurely to not do so and keep at it.

As far as regrowth, read the information provided in the shedding section as it explains in great detail how regrowth from shedding works.

Hairs that you shed while taking finasteride typically grow back and sometimes thicker and fuller. You will likely see slight results roughly every 3 months as hairs growing in 3 months cycles. I'm sure another year from now, you'll have a thicker, fuller head of hair than you do now but to what degree, only time will tell.
