"how does it develop? is it genetic?"

I am of the opinion that genetics is the key of density, width, colour, wavy or not, and disposition of scalp`s hairs, but it is not the reason of common baldness.

For me all hairs over the scalp are similar in healthy persons, without distinction between sexes.

Bryan;
It could be that my theory do not cover all angles in common baldness, but the current theory don have the better days. You know very well.

I am wondering if you himself have elaborated any theory at respect. Mr. Foote did it, and myself also. there is a pleyade of them. Vitamin D and sun, chick crests, diet, nutrients, a wide variety of hormones, hats, etc. and myself. Have you anyone

BTW, Any theory have to explain clearly the special pattern and the difference ioncidence between sexes.

my brother was always partying, drunk as a pig, having little sleep.. he's 36 a FULL NW0.

I since I was a teen, was into a healthy lifestyle, also drunk but not as much, never passed out (he did soooo many times) and I started thinning at 20 something. I'm 39 now.

So **** that, lifestyle my ***.

I'm so glad my brother is also going bald... Couldn't imagine how tough it must be to see your own brother spared the curse you have...

Better diets are leading to people growing taller than their grandfathers and developing earlier than their grandparents, certainly reaching puberty earlier. Given that growth and physical development are hormonal, and male pattern baldness is also hormonal, and that our better diets are altering our hormones, its safe to say that the reason we're losing our hair earlier is the same reason we're growing taller and reaching puberty earlier...

I saw very few guys at uni with hair loss, possibly one in my class. Hair loss in your 20s seems to be rare from my experience, and I mean NW3+.

There is no relation between 'better diet's and growing taller then our earlier ancestors. If anything people ate better back in the day then we do now. A lot of the food they ate wasn't processed, and refined but grown fresh. Home cooked meals were actually a necessity rather then a commodity it is now adays of people going to Mc Donalds every day. Rest assured they were eating lot's of veggies, meat and potatoes versus the kraft dinner, and TV dinners of today. The argument someone will raise forward is that they are pumping more hormones into our food nowadays that contribute to more growth, but even that has it's own side of risks.

Our genetic blue prints is what determines our bone growth. it isn't impacted by minor adjustments in diatery intake. Our bones will reach their genetic potential one way or another.

Would literally need to live in a 3rd world country for diet to have an impact on our bones. If anything diet impacts muscular development... not so much bones. Our bodies don't have any desire to put muscle on, last on the priorities. But bone development will always be met.

Baldness is extremely uncommon before marriage in India...

If you ask me,i can prove it but not in this public post, you can see that out of every 500 grooms, only 4/5 can be seen as bald.

I agree its genetics mostly, but there are some unexplained factors to what causes it so that is why people throw out so many theories. Personally I think life style has almost nothing to do with it. Same with diet, but if you could prove diet changes androgen levels directly or indirectly I might believe that, but proof is lacking.
Its an androgen mediated disease and its time sensitive. You have to stop androgens early on before male pattern baldness starts.

I disagree. I think kids would grow to whatever height they would have almost regardless of diet. I think things like height or male pattern baldness are entirely genetics. Since it cant be proven either way though people like to fill in those gaps with opinions so we are both right

This may be news to some people but news to myself and others on here.

Around college campuses, including mine, I see so many men who are balding. Men my age, early twenties, some late teens. I would say that i can spot hair loss in 25-30% of guys on my campus. Some have shaved their heads but I can still see the gray scalp where hair used to be and the receded hairlines. I do see more hairline and temple recession than crown recession, but there is plenty of both to go around.

I know college had a thread on this awhile back, but maybe we could discuss the reasons here further, because I don't think we came to any conclusions why.

Since you're on this forum I'm assuming you're suffering from hair loss as well. It could be completely possible that more men are going bald, but it's also possible that you tend to notice men who are balding subconsciously. The same thing happened with me when I started thinning this year. I suddenly started checking out people's crowns and hairlines.
