now after looking at thes boards day after day,i have come to this conclusion, you can inherit male pattern baldness from either side of the family,so if your dad is bald but mums dad has a great head of hair ,i would say you have a quite good chance of keeping your hair but could still go bald.

However if your dad has a great head of hair and your mums dad is bald,
ibeleive it is 100% that you will inherit male pattern baldness ,think about it you see bald men in their twenties and their dads have mountains of hair.

Now the sceintists who are supposed to be experts always say that it is a myth that you can only get male pattern baldness from your mothers side which is true.
You can get this disease of your dad but if your mother has the baldness gene then you will be bald 100%

No, the experts are right. My brother has a mountain of hair and he's in his mid 30s. If I remember correctly, male pattern baldness follows your fathers/uncles/whatever patterns. Judging by the uncles, he should have started balding at 25 and be almost a full 3V right now. At worst he's a NW2.

Additionally, if it is X-chromosome based, then you have 50% chance of getting it - assuming your mother's mother doesn't have the gene. If it's autosomal dominant, then it's always 50% chance.

what about the balding guys with no history of hairloss in the family?

i personally think it's something in the water ingested during pregnancy.

also my mother played a lot of Steely Dan when she was pregnant with me, i'm certain that had something to do with it.
