South Korean research team managed to transfer donor hair between multiple sets of mice with NO immune system rejection. They used ultraviolet light to remove the dendritic cells of the donor hair before transplanting onto a different mouse.

Could be a whole new ball game for people who don't have good donor areas for transplants.

But presumably you still need someone who matches tissue and blood types perfectly. Alongside that you would need matching hair type, colour and texture so it doesn't look f*****g retarded.

Not sure I understand why you would need matching tissue and blood types as well??. But am not an expert in this field. Moreover, I believe (someone could correct me) that hair follicles are less affected by the immune system than, say, the liver or other organs: in the same sort of class as the cornea. That said, I agree that you would still need to match hair type. This has relevance to people like me that have no donor sites that could sustain a transplant. So I would need to persuade someone to give up a lot of their hail follicles (unlikely unless willing to pay a lot of money) or I would need lots of donors. Again, quite pricey, but also back to the problem of matching. An interesting question as to how close the matches would need to be to make this look natural. Overall, I think a promising avenue is own stem cell research. Preferably to use one's own stem cells to generate as much hair for transplanting as you need. If I had enough donor hair I would have a transplant like a shot.

I will kidnap and harvest @Wolf Pack then.

They said future wars will be fought over water. They were wrong, future wars were fought over hair. Me and my baldy raiders will scorch the land in search of the perfect hairline.

I do have good hair even for full head standards due to excellent hair calibre and texture. But in this situation you should choose a bona fide full head with just as good calibre/texture for extra peace of mind!

For attempted kidnapping and leaving me bald - Now you see me, now you don't.

This would be f*****g awesome.

@Ollie last year I was reading about a new generic blood type (something to do with CRISPR) that will become mainstream in the near future, the article said they will be able to use this for organ transplants / transplants that normally require the recipient to be on anti immunipresant drugs for the the rest of their lives.

My mum has a ton of hair! I’d take it!!

This will work very well with hair cloning. If you are slick bald, you need only find a donor who is willing to give a few square centimetres of their follicles which can then be cloned for injection into your scalp. God I wish we were 5 to 10 years on: I need that cure NOW. Have run out of road. Have taken to wearing a hat everywhere. Ugly skull. Can’t face the thought of a hair system...yet anyway.
