My 1.25 Vs 1mg Finasteride sexual side effects experience.

I have been using Finasteride for about 5 weeks now and week 1,3 I ate like a quarter Proscar daily. In these weeks..I did feel some terrible sexual sides.
I did not have any interest in sex and even p**rn could not excite me. I lost my morning wood and if I somehow managed to raise my dick up..it wouldnt last too long. After ejaculation I saw very less amount of sperms and all the time I was tired.

But in week 2,4 and 5, I ate like 1 mg Proscar and my sex drive is back. I get horny at times and can raise my dick when I feel like. :lol:
Morning wood..cant really say..but good amount of sperms come out after ejaculation.

I will stick to 1mg from now.

I did not know that an extra .25 mg of finasteride can have so much effect on the sex drive n libido.:freaked2:

Any views?

had the same thing as far as sexual effect with 1.25, i did drop the dosage to 0.625 and i have no problem having it hard now :lol:

You devide your Proscar pill in 5 equal pieces... gosh, must be hard thing to do. Curious how you manage to cut it in 5 pieces.

How do u manage to divide proscar into 1/8th(.625 mg)???

I try to bite 1/5th proscar tablet daily. I am sure its not exactly 1mg daily..but its 5mg Proscar for 5 days so on avg. 1mg Finasteride daily. :?

I cut mine into 4 pieces - and then the biggest piece I cut in half for 5 approximate 1 mg pieces.

I've been noticing this exact same thing. That's really weird, because I actually talked to my girlfriend about it today. I've had trouble getting it up lately and I just switched to 1/4 Proscar about 2-3 months ago. It really sucks when you want to but your little man isn't responding.

I was thinking about going back to Propecia and splitting it up into 1/4s. I think I've ready that you only need a very little amount of finasteride to work, like .25 mg or something like that. This amount would also reduce the sexual side effects. Is there any truth to that? :cry:

Wow, same here!!!

I tried a 1.25mg dose (I did a bad proscar cut that day) and planned to skip 1 day to get my normal dose. For first time, I had a Finesteride side of reduced lobido! Glad I went with lower dosage as shown in my sig!

I've had a lot of sides from 1mg. I cut down to 0.5mg and was still getting sides (weight gain and chest fat being worst of them, but the libido got a bit better). I guess I'm just sensitive to finasteride.

Now I'm down to 0.25mg. The libido is pretty much what it was before I ever started on finasteride. I'm gonna give myself 3-4 months (and hit the gym harder than ever) to lose the weight and see if the chest fat goes down. I'm just hoping that the 0.25 will be the right balance for positive results and no sides (and saving a lot of cash). That would be sweet.

I have seen a study here posted by Bryan that showed that 0.2 is almost as effective as 1.0 mg Finasteride in the inhibition of DHT.


hair_tomorrow : thats a good idea. Why dont u just bite it like I do? May not be perfect 1 mg but the powder goes directly in your mouth.

I think like me he takes it every other day. I did so because I lost morning erections in 1-2 weeks, plus loss of libido. Decided to continue to see if it would lessen for two weeks till I got fed up and halved my dose. Took 1-2 weeks to get morning erections and libido back. Otoh, it might have subsided all by itself. I won't go back to 1 mg a day due to price reasons and because it isn't that less effective from the studies posted here.

No, read my post again I said I got a side when I tried doing this every other day thing on 1.25mg -- the one time I did it.

Its not so bad splitting it 8 ways. Its not 100% accurate, but I just guestimate the cuts looking at each section as I cut it... its close enough.

OK - getting way too personal here

as far as cutting it into 8ths, it's probably just a matter of cutting the tab into quarters, and then cutting each quarter in half.
