my 6 month update on propecia and minoxidil

I've been on propecia for 6 months, minoxidil for 5. During these sixth months, the hair on my crown has diffused quite a bit and I shed a lot during this time period. My hairline has not receded much at all.

However one week into my 7th month, my hair looks like it is starting to regrow either due to the minoxidil or the propecia. I see a bunch of vellus hair starting to become terminal on the hairline, and on the crown and in the front of the scalp, it looks like it is growing back in thicker.

Of course it is too early to tell, but I think I am in for a bout of regrowth. I have hair loss like Diddy's. Hopefully I will gain results like his. I will post another update in either 1 or 2 months depending on how much regrowth actually occurs.

Good luck everyone. If anyone is on both finasteride and saw palmetto, drop the saw palmetto and keep the propecia. That's my best advice to you guys. I stopped taking saw palmetto 1 month ago, and now my hair loss seems to be reversing.

Word. I'm about 2 months off of saw palmetto. On the Big 3 for 7 months+ spironolactone & Folligen. No results, hairs that fall out are rediculously thinning. So good luck to the three of us

Hey Bombscience, I was in a similar situation after 7 months of finasteride and minoxidil but my hair (except at the front, I'm afraid) started to thicken up noticeably from about the 1 year mark, hopefully you'll have the same sort of results (though better at the front, of course).

Bombscience, if only we knew what we now know about today's best regimine.

I keep wondering if it was saw palmetto that was complicating things when taken in combination with finasteride. This I will never know, but the answer no longer matters.

Whatever the answer, all I know is that now I am off saw palmetto and on the big 3, plus folligen once in a while.

I am also on MSM, Grape seed Extract, Horsetail, and a Multivitamin.

I wish I started this regimine at the beginning, but no longer dwelling in the past for me. I am looking forward to regrowth in these next 3 months.

4.5 months of the big 3 and my hair loss seem to have to slowed down.

You're not alone BOMBSCIENCE, ... the hairs that fall out are as thin as Ally McBeal on a diet, and are at least half as long as the rest of my hair (super short).

Well at least I don't loose more than 200+ a day. Probably 50+ now.

Thanks for the update. I've been on Propecia for 5 months, nizoral for 5 and Rogaine for 6, and have yet to grow anything back. In fact, I'm still losing and in the midst of a big shed. I am getting desperate and praying that I will start to see some regrowth shortly. I'm 21 and this is very depressing, but hopefully it is just taking longer with me.
