Hello everyone!
I started losing my hair a year ago around the time I turned 20 and noticed my hairline thinning just a bit at the front. Doctor said I was very lucky to catch it before it even got noticeable to other people. 1 week later I was using Rogaine and I've used it every single day for a year. Results were amazing and noticed no differences.. lately tho I think my thinning is starting again, might be stress but I doubt it. He said to use it once a day and I should keep my hair for years to come but I've read in many forums that if you don't use it twice a day then results aren't great. I'd like to hear opinions from people who've used it for a longer time. I'd like to say that I use a liquid form called Folcare. Also he said not to use Propecia, since minoxidil is much safer.

Minoxidil is safer but its effectiveness only lasts about a year, just ask @Alphalete. The thinning you are experiencing is likely due to minoxidil losing its effectiveness. I would strongly consider finasteride over your doctors opinion as finasteride while not as safe as minoxidil, is still a very safe drug and millions use it without problems. It has the potential to save your hair for decades if you are a responder.

Yep, @AnxiousAndy is right. minoxidil. loses effectiveness and I regret hard AF not ordering finasteride earlier. I'd be a thick NW1 if it made me maintain my minoxidil gains.

Still hoping it can get me back.

I ordered finasteride 1 f*****g month ago but it is being delayed because my country sucks balls

safe is all relative. some claim they had heart palpatitions from minoxidil or changes to their face, or blood pressure. IDK but I do think twice a day as said on the box would get better results than once a day. They dont say twice for fun it was shown to work better at two times.
I guess id agree though its safer relative to finasteride. Probably more commonly used since its OTC and a lot cheaper.

But as you mentioned, the amounts of hair you've lost have been the same amount before and after finasteride. Which could mean you're just a non-responder.

Yeah I have a feeling I am a non-responder. I'm not gonna make it.

@OP it is up to you and how much hair you are really thinning. If you have a strong family history of male pattern baldness, then it is worth taking something like Finasteride as Minoxidil helps manage one part of the equation. If you have very mild thinning and no real family history then you can introduce dermarolling with Minoxidil and also red light therapy like iRestore aling with caffeine shampoo and Nizoral if you are against taking oral Finasteride. Also you can look into topical Finasteride.

Thanks for the answers and kindness, ill consider those shampoos and I'm going to a specialist to see if he can make a master plan of sorts to stop the thinning and if he recommends Finasteride. Most men in my family are bald, but all my cousins (most im their 30s) have no hair loss so I thought I was part of this lucky generation, though luck
