most of you probably dont even know who i am but i joined this board a while ago when i first started losing my hair, for the first year or two i even documented my successes and failures via pictures on this forum but became less active as the boards became more and more prone to flaming and thread deviation

that being said, in the past 5 years, ive tried every seemingly reasonable treatment for hairloss (yes even FUT) and i just wanted to share a small token of experiential knowledge with everyone. while i dont think any of it will be *suprised* by it, i'm still going to state it

propecia is a good drug, i understand some people have side effects on it, ive never experienced any of them

avodart is a better drug, the only reason i quit using it after about a year and a half of taking it was because the fda seized one of my shipments and i was out the $300+ i paid for it

minoxodil is mediocre at best but i think its a good supplement if you dont mind the annoyance of using it, if it becomes a hassle i wouldnt sweat not using it, you wont be losing a whole lot

FUT is amazing...when you have a good doctor, if you are really rich id go for the FUE (although ive never had one) but if i had an infinite amount of money, i would choose FUE over FUT. as far as FUT results are concerned, they are very very good, the scar is minimal but noticable if you shave your head with anything up to or lower than a 2 guard. the procedure itself is kind of taxing on the body and the recovery can be a bit painful at times, however the good outweighs the bad and i will eventually give it another go

the laser comb is pretty fantastic, i was very skeptical about it for a long time, but i finally gave it and tried it out, and i couldnt have been happier

the rest of the products tried (revivogen, spironolactone, etc) i didnt really feel warranted any kind of response due to their lack of/poor results

granted i was taking propecia or avodart at all times, i tried each topical solution/dietary supplement individually with before and after pictures and base my results on such

edit: this is a link with some pictures i took about 3 years ago viewtopic.php?f=11&t=21234

edit: here is a link with some pre/post transplant pictures for those thinking about surgery viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6455

zak84,

When you were on Avodart how often did you take a pill? My father has about 200 Avodart pills that he isn't going to use.

Thanks for the post. So it looks like transplants keep well over time. I guess you've only had yours for what, three years?

Thanks for the update. I have to say, you have some of the best day after operation photos I have seen. Your scar doesn't look bad at all even on those days immediate after your procedure. To be honest, I look at some FUT pics sometimes and freak out when I see the scar but yours looks fine.
