My Friend Told Me I Was Balding And Now I Am Worried

Hi!

I shaved my head for the first time the other day, just for fun nothing related to hair loss. And my friend half-jokingly said I looked like I was going bald. Do you think he's right? I'm 18 by the way.

I attached some pics from today, and the other ones are from around 2 years ago.

It makes me very sad when i see young boys loosing hairs and over concern about it. Their age is to enjoy life to the fullest not counting hairs. I think it's time now for me to wear white coat and do some lab work. Really!!

i agree that your hair is receding (although i think it looks fine.
I'd hold off on jumping drugs yet, but when you get around to it, finasteride and rogaine are what you want to use to combat your recession

thanks for the replies everyone! I actually talked about it to my doctor because I had to see him for some other stuff today. He said it was just because of puberty and that I was transitioning into my definitive hairline.

Do you think this can be true? Is the whole "mature hairline" thing real?

If it was your regular doctor, I don't know...They always say that. Some derms and hair specialists believe in "mature" hair line and some don't...

You are fine for now. It looks more bald because you shaved your head. The way your hair is and the fact that you are white means you probably will have recession concerns later but right now I would just monitor it.
