My hair is getting worse?

I would suggest getting on dutasteride + minoxidl, considering you have zero sides?
Maybe use RU

Is dutasteride really that much better?

Seems like most people who lose hair on finasteride don't seem to say dutasteride stopped it. Might help slightly but not much - aggressive genes. Those raving on about dutasteride usually jumped on it straight without trying finasteride, so not the same thing.

Some doctors refuse to prescribe dutasteride as A) safety not approved. B) don't believe it makes a big diff than finasteride when facing aggressive hair loss.

Try dutasteride/finasteride and RU/CB combo, you need a different mode of defence.

Dutasteride blocks like 99% of type 2 DHT i believe (might be wrong but im pretty sure) compared to only like 72% blockage on 1mg finasteride (higher doses than this dont result in much better results compared to the risk/reward associated with high dose finasteride)

So theoretically if your DHT is still too high from finasteride to halt your balding then getting on dutasteride is the next logical step. from what ive seen dutasteride is almost impossible to lose hair while on assuming it is actually male pattern baldness and not some other cause. maybe try adding in RU58841 to see if you can regrow your hairline.

for the record you're a really good looking guy by the way

You look happy in the pic dated: Present, February 2015. Great smile!!! When you are feeling down about your hair loss try to remember what you were thinking about when you smiled for that picture. Everything will be right as rain after that.

That's serum DHT on finasteride. If we looking specifically at type 2 DHT on finasteride it inhibits 85-90%. dutasteride takes out 98% of type 2 dht. Also takes out a chunk of type 1 which is nothing to do with hair loss and found in other areas like the brain.

So dutasteride inhibits about 8% extra of the DHT that matters over finasteride. I would personally try RU along with finasteride in that situation but it's a hassle using a topical. No harm going for dutasteride I guess.

The increase of 20 hair was over a period of 6 months. Further regrowth can in theory happen which may result in visible improvement.

9/10 is 10% chance to not respond, whereas Dutasteride has a 99.6% successrate, obviously better.

There's no study showing the amount of inhibition you're refering to. Finasteride inhibits 70% of serum DHT, type I and II 5-alpha-reductase opposed to Dutasteride which inhibits around 92% at 0.5mg a day of all three types.

Firstly, 9/10 is over a 10 year period. There is no 10 year dutasteride study so you can't really make an assumption. 9/10 Is great odds for pretty much the whole population unless you have aggressive hair loss such as an 18 year old heading for Norwood 6.

Show me someone on here who was on finasteride, kept losing hair, took dutasteride and salvaged the situation? Show me pictures? I am not disputing dutasteride is better for aggressive hair loss, but I am saying how much better is it really? If you have aggressive genes then chances are things like autoimmunity, androgen receptors becoming more sensitive, finding other ways to produce androgens - this can happen. This is why a minority still lose hair on finasteride/dutasteride.

I don't have this type of hair loss so finasteride's good enough at least for a couple of decades in theory.

My point was that the guys who are losing hair on finasteride, still usually come on here and say they are losing on dutasteride too. A lot of Doctors are not convinced it can help the minority who are poor responders to finasteride. There's no such thing as a non response on finasteride btw.

And if you are incapable of understanding that finasteride takes out 85-90% of type 2 DHT, then you really haven't done much research. Serum is irrelevant. Type 1 DHT is irrelevant. Please do some more reading.

Yes further regrowth can happen with dutasteride, but so will Finasteride logically. The difference between the 2 will not be substantial. If you want more growth you try Minoxidil.

I have been on finasteride for 7 months plus and so far I have watched my hairline steadily dissolve in front of my eyes. Im on a dose of 1.25 mg a day and the very least I could have asked it to do would be to maintain from baseline.

Yep this is what I've been saying. My hairline was much better before I started finasteride. Many people report this but everybody brushes it aside and says it's not possible.. That finasteride will only stop hairloss and that if anything we would have lost more hair had we not been on finasteride. I honestly believe I wouldn't have, I think my hairline would have stayed the same or went back a little bit.. not as much as it has since being on finasteride.. To the point where people are now pointing out that my hair is receding.. never had this problem before starting finasteride. And now I don't know whether I should continue to take it or not. I don't shed and I don't want to stop finasteride and my hairline goes back even further.. I should have never tried finasteride, should have just waited another year and seen how my hairline would be.

Exactly how I feel to be honest.....every single time I get my haircut I wonder why the hell this stuff isn't working. I am very seriously considering dutasteride very soon if things don't shape up, but my primary concern is just how far do you go beyond the point of no return?!

your hair doesn't really look any different in the first and last pic, just in the first it looks to me that it's covering your temple

are you experiencing sheds at all?

On Finasteride, Minoxidil now,my hair wont stop shedding, seeing miniaturization/full terminal hairs everywhere but I can't seem to stop it. Also have a persistent male pattern baldness itch all over scalp, thinking of switching to Dutasteride.

Mate,

Your hairline is exactly the same as mine and I did the same. No joke, finasteride did f*ck all for me and during this time my hairline significantly worsened!

I am on dutasteride now however even on this there is absolutely nothing promising coming through...i am very, very close to having to do something drastic to cover it up because its only just acceptable. I think the next logical thing for me (and probably you) would be to look at RU?

QUOTE=blasteryui;1286189]No I'm not on dutasteride and my hairline continues to get worse.. I've stayed on for 2 years now in hopes that some of it would come back.. Finn raises testosterone.. because of this I think for some men it destroys the hairline FASTER.. perhaps my hairline was going to go back.. but over time.. over years.. nobody in my family has a hairline like mine.. my grand father has better hair then me.. and my father.. explain that to me. I think finasteride just accelerated would was bound to happen but at least I would of had my damn hairline while I was young.. the amount of depression this gives me has become unbearable. I was also just starting to finally develop a beard when I started this.. and hear I am with a still patchy beard.. when my whole family can grow thick ones.. Finn deff has been known to slow beard growth.. theres not a lot of research when it comes to development.. but I believe to that finasteride can affect your development when youre still young like I am.. nothing worse then balding and a patchy beard.. at least with a thick beard I would feel more confident shaving. Heres pictures of me currently..

Did you use the premixed stuff or make your own? I'm considering RU and buying the premixed as essentially (hair transplants aside) its the only option I have left!
