My regime and S5 Cream

Should I add S5 Cream to my regime?

Hi I have been taking Minoxidil twice a day and Nizoral shampoo for about 1 year and 5 months. I have just added Niacin vitamin supplement as I have read that this can help and even if it doesn't it's a healthy vitamin to take anyway.

The only thing I'm reluctant to try is Finasteride (propecia) due to side effects and risks etc.

I've just read that there is a something called S5 Cream which is considered as possibly a good alternative to Finasteride.

My question is has anyone used this and experienced good results from it? Is it worth the money?

Please see my photos of my hair attached. I don't think its got a huge amount worse since I started Minoxidil but I'm not sure.

Its hard for me to be objective can someone please look at the 2 photos and tell me how much worse you think it is. I made the amateur mistake of taking the 2012 photo while my hair was wet so it's a bit of a difficult comparison.

I use S5 cream as well. Just a thin layer on my front hairline, twice a day.

Though don't expect miracle regrowth like you can get with Minoxidil and Finasteride, it's more for long-term maintenance. With emphasis on "long term", since even Finasteride can work for up to 10-15 years.

S5 cream and Nizoral shampoo together are great as DHT inhibitors.

It will be good if you have a typical case of male pattern baldness. If you have aggressive male pattern baldness then you'll want to add other things with it.

The pics are from different angles so I could be very wrong, but to me it looks like your hair loss got worse so S5 Cream should work. I hate to tell you this but now is the time to get on finasteride too if you want to do the most to try to stop your hair loss. I am not saying Propecia is guaranteed to work or that finasteride is a perfect drug, but you need to use something that works. And use it soon.

Hello Zhenzia, Would you care to expound on your comment . How long have you been applying it? I'm always looking for other effective alternatives or even complementary additions that may or may not be superior, in terms of efficacy, than to my current regimen. Your feed back is appreciated.

To your question Fernendo, Definitely jump on S5 if you wish to have a better chance at retarding the progression of your hair loss, but proceed with S5. All the best.

Sure buddy. :)

I've only been using S5 cream for around half a year (some users here like rcom440 have used it for 4+ years and reported great results), so personally I feel it is a good addition. I realize that Nizoral shampoo has anti-DHT properties, however I felt that alone was not enough to form the anti-DHT wing of my daily regimen.

So I use both Topical spironolactone (twice a day) and Nizoral Shampoo (twice a week) combined. I also use Minoxidil for the growth stimulant part.

I am a bit paranoid of side effects to be honest, often irrationally. That's why I am not going on Finasteride, despite the chances of side effects being only around 1%.

Studies of Topical Spironolactone show that it decreases DHT in the skin, with zero effects on hormones in the rest of the body, i.e. zero systemic effects, even when the test subjects smeared half their bodies with the 5% cream twice a day.

As for results, any anti-DHT will take a long time to show effects. Haven't had any side effects from anything so far.

S5 cream is decent in price, since you only need a thin layer on the affected areas, and thus it lasts for quite a while. One problem is that it is hard to apply sometimes, you have to pull your hair back for easier access, though I got used to it pretty quickly. And it doesn't leave an oily residue like Minoxidil. It smells quite nice, a bit like antiseptic cream for around 5 minutes after application.

Since I wasn't going on finasteride, I felt Topical Spironolactone and Nizoral Shampoo were my best bet for anti-DHT, and personally I do feel it has helped me. I intend to keep doing this over the long term, it's looking positive so far.

just go on finasteride don't believe the bull **** stories about it. Do you really think the FDA faked their study? You are wasting your time by not using it. Lol @ losing your hair because you are afraid of a few percent chance of having a limp dick for a month

I think the studies are legit, that's why I just said screw it and gave finasteride a shot. I was and still am confident that if I ever get sides they will go away when I stop taking the drug. I get why people would be scared. ED is nothing to kid around with. I just don't buy into all the paranoia.

Hi thanks a lot for your replies

I've attached some more photos please compare them to 2012 and let me know if the hair loss is worse and if so how much.

I know Propecia is a good treatment its just I'm worried about side effects especially ones that may persist after I stop taking it. I understand that most men don't have side effects but it is a worry for me.

Does anyone have any statistics on the following

1) How many men out of 100 report sexual side effects on this drug?

2) How many men out of 100 report sexual side effects that don't go away after stopping it?

I don't want to seem too paranoid its just I'm aware that hair loss a cosmetic problem and I don't want to risk getting a physical problem trying to treat it unless the risk of a physical problem is extremely low.

Has anyone had any success with topical Propecia instead of the pill form? I noticed that ******* sell it without the need for a prescription.

Is topical spironolactone the same as s5 cream or are they different products?

Thanks again

How to apply topical spironolactone

Hi guys

Do you have to rub the spironolactone into your scalp or just wait for it to absorb? Also how long do you leave it to put minoxidil on?

Cheers guys

I usually do minoxidil, wait 15 min then apply spironolactone. spironolactone you rub in with your fingers, that way you use less of it than just dabbing it on.

Cheers mate much appreciated. So just massage it in? you had good results?

Does anyone get very itchy on the site where they apply the S5 cream? I notice the next day my scalp itches a lot. Is this normal?
