Here is the history of the side effects I experienced while on finasteride.

I first found out about this website almost 1.5 years ago and decided to take finasteride.

It seems like many people here deny the side effects this drug can cause.

Although the drug leaves your body after quitting, it still may stress the adrenal system enough to burn it out.

I believe that's what happened in my case.

I stopped posting on this website for a long time because I felt that it was a lost cause. People seem to be very adamant about this thing not having sides. Merck is the same company who did "studies" on and released vioxx.

You can do a search on my previous posts and see that I was first enthusiastic about this drug.

Here is the link to my story:

http://finasteride.jconserv.net/viewtopic.php?t=166&sid=d6c7d2a91b35c3cab3f2df532f8abdd7

Bash it all you want. doesn't change the fact that it happened.

The reason why I am back and posting is because a mother of a 21 year old kid posted on the http://www.propeciahelp.com website because she was scared her son was going through crazy side effects also. I told her to tell her son to read my story and she mentioned that he was going through similar side effects.

This drug is poison and I hate the fact that many people seem to push this drug as if its a miracle drug.

I too wanted to ignore all the side effects that people bring up when I first started to read this BB, but lo and behold, there were either no replies or just idiotic bashing ("you're a moron, only .0002% get sides, etc") in response to serious questions.

i hope i can prevent at least one other person from fully burning their adrenals out and screwing up their lives for the next few months. i went through a terrible time in my life and NEVER wish it upon the worst of my enemies.

If you are planning to take the drug for the first time, make sure you read ALL the posts. Even the ones without responses that ask questions about topics such as, "urinal problems", "pelvic pain", "Brain fog", "sleepyness", "gyno", "libido problems", "anxiety", "twitching", etc.... don't discount their validity.

I wouldn't be surprised if I get some moronic reply or if this post gets flagged/removed.

Hopefully at least one person will see it.

It's all psychological.

Atleast, that's what 95% of the people on here say. It makes sense though, that if you're on a drug or have taken it you don't want to believe that side effects are possible. Denial as you said plays a large role. At first I thought some of the posters on here were somehow connected to Merck.

In my mind, messing with hormones long term can't be a good idea. However I must say I don't know much on this subject, it just seems that tampering with the things that control our bodyie' processes and whatnot is risky.

i dont get posts about hormones..
if the estrogen levels would peak you would get tired..emotional..boobs..more body fat..bigger butt..softer skin..smooothr hair..even regrowth...and higher risk for cardiac and bloo related problems.

but your dont turn green and fall dead to the ground.

what exactly is it that people mean when they say "dangerous to mess with Telogen Effluvium hormones" ?

im curious i never se any sources for what problems it would cause.

It's just my assumption that it's most likely problematic to mess with hormones. I haven't done much scientific research, so there is definitely a possibility that I'm wrong.

Propecia altered my hormone levels, or so I believe. I gained fat, retained water in my face (it puffed up pretty well, lol), and my skin did seem to get better.

Surely doctors or scientists or whoever would know the long term effects (if any) though...
And if they are keeping info from us, they can expect some serious sue-ing to be going on :p .
I dont see how sides could just appear out of nowhere in the future though. Surely, if messing with hormone levels was so dangerious, the side effects would kick in very quick. Like connecting an adapter with the wrong voltage to something :freaked2:

Not everyone will experience side effects like I did. I just wanted to post my information so people realize that this drug can seriously screw you up and that its NOT just in your head.....

My life would have been much better if I stopped early vs. staying in denial....

Forgot to mention, I also experienced puffy face/skin and also constipation (from prostatitis)....

I think some people just 'react' more to increased estrogen than others. I too had signs of heightened estrogen levels.

Also, the thing with hormones affecting you immediately... it wouldn't necessarily have to occur this way. There might be something that becomes worse and worse as time goes, a cumulative effect. We really don't know much about the body, anything's possible I suppose.

I like to think of this like that movie Unbreakable and the two extremes.
1mg of chemical everyday your body will adapt and you should not die no matter what. You ingest more than 1mg of things you don't even know about everyday but have adapted to. I think everybody would come out of it eventually, it could take a year plus for some cases though.

But I really feel your pain. Thanks for the heads up but it's a bit late for me. I am way to far down the Rabbit Hole now.
