Hey Guys need some support or advice .

On June 5th 05 i was diagnosed by a Dr. @ UCLA who specializes in hairloss w/ Telogen Effluvium...i first noticed my hairloss feb of 05, Ive been under horrible stress and depression all brought on by myself for the last 2 years, some what of a Hypocondrat or whatever, anyway i couldnt take the worrying about my hair so i started propecia about 5 months ago, after the 3rd month i ran out of finasteride and didnt take it for about 3 weeks, when starting again i shed like crazy.. OK anyway im still worried about my hair and i feel like it is Telogen Effluvium theres no way ive allowed my self to get over it because of the stress i still live with everyday. Any suggestions will help .....should i quit finasteride, please help guys im losing it ...

Propecia is prescribed for Male Pattern Baldness, not for Telogen Effluvium. You should get on a treatment that will allow you to function with lower stress levels.

Get a new haircut, try some anti-anxiety meds, and workout and exercise. Telogen Effluvium is reversible, I believe.

how did your doctor determine it was Telogen Effluvium?

if it was Telogen Effluvium, why did you start taking propecia?

if your stressed out take an anti anxiety drug like lexapro or xanax.

so yes, if you have Telogen Effluvium you shouldnt take propecia.

I went there once he looked at it with some glasses after telling him about my past stressful events he said its Telogen Effluvium
I came back 4 weeks later after pretty much not buying his diagnosis..so he took a biopsy of my scalp right on where you would part your hair near the vertex, it came back as Telogen Effluvium

Im taking propecia cause my hair was thinning and i was honsetly scared of going bald still am

You won't go bald with Telogen Effluvium. Does Male Pattern Baldness run in your family?

Find some relief, man.

Based on what I've heard, I would avoid messing with your hormones.

I would seek alternative options to restore your hair, primarily a less stressful way of living.

If it is Telogen Effluvium that is the cause of your hairloss, then you need not take Propecia. Hair will regrow by itself. If your currently suffering Telogen Effluvium and think you may be suffering with male pattern baldness, wait until your Telogen Effluvium has resolved before starting Propecia. Telogen Effluvium needs no treatment once the underlying cause has been sorted.

Take photos of your head. Top, Front, Sides, Back etc. and post them here.

If you can't do that or don't want to, look at your hair - is your hair loss only on top or is on the sides and back as well? Telogen Effluvium would affect your whole scalp - not just hairs on top.
