My Strip hair transplant in India

Hi guys, I have been an ardent follower of your blog for a long time now. I always said to myself that if I ever get a hair transplant, I'll share my experiences with you all. So here we go....

I'm 27. I don't know much about Norwood scales but I know that I lost hair on the sides and it was beginning to look really awkward. Black hair and fair complexion go very well only when there is a full head of hair.

I got on Finasteride 1 mg for the past six months and it gave me good results. It thickened my hair and even gave me new ones. But it just wasn't good enough for me.

Here is a picture of my hairline when I went for consultation. You can also see the line drawn by the Doctor which was meant to be my new hairline.

So...

It has been 4 days now after the surgery. I've returned home and I'm able to cover up already by combing forward.

I am on long leave and I'll stay away from work for a couple of weeks if necessary.

I haven't had any swelling or side-effects so far apart from an itchy scalp. The nurse at the clinic washed my hair one day after the surgery and applied some ointment to the Sutured Donor Area.

I need to wash my hair in a few hours from now with distilled water. (Well, boiled water cooled down to room temperature)

On the whole, I'm happy that I got it done instead of wondering everyday if I should get it or shouldn't get it. Now I just hope and pray that results will be good in 8 - 10 months and that I might be able to look at a full hairline again...

Hey man thanks for posting the pics. How does you crown look? Did you only suffer hairloss on the hairline?

Your hairline placement is quite aggressive.

How much did you pay per graft?

Thanks :)

Well, I had thinning on the crown but finasteride fixed it in over six months. I see no thinning there anymore. Even the Doctor suggested that I use finasteride for that part and that there was no need for implants there.

He did how ever place grafts in the middle of thick front hair between the two temples. (Whats this part called, I wonder )

Yep, my placement was indeed aggressive. I specifically told the Doctor that I needed as much dense packing as he can give. While he was happy to give dense packing, he wanted to put my hairline a bit backward but I insisted on this particular hairline. I said that this was already way behind. :)

The Doctor Mr Madhu is a member of ISHRS and charged around 65 cents per follicle.

OK...

As the Doctor advised, I used Johnsons baby shampoo and rinsed the scalp gently yet thoroughly. This is the 4th day after Surgery and I'm hoping that I didn't damage any transplanted grafts while washing my hair.

I'm supposed to do this for next 7 days until I see the Doctor again to have the sutures removed from Donor Area.

I was wearing a head band until last night but I'm not going to wear it anymore. I hope I won't move my head too much on the pillow and damage any grafts.

If there are any suggestions in these matters, please give them guys.

Its a gamble but odds aren't that bad or So I thought anyways.

1. Finasteride is working fine for me. It will continue to do so for next few years.

2. New technology such as hair cloning will be a reality in next 4 - 5 years. I am betting on our scientists. Well, this is the gambling part. :)

looks good, i am at 2 months post surgery and I still use baby shampoo at least twice a week, although I prefer huggies natural care with aloe and vitamin e. I feel that because its so gentle, its like washing your hair without washing your hair, if that makes sense at all. :stupid:

Best wishes to you. I hope your hair transplant turns out just the way you expected.
Did you go for strip or fue?
Keep posting your pictures. Maintaining a picture record is the best way to follow up your hair transplant.

Post op, I didnt wear a band. Used gentle head wash with johnson baby shampoo for 7 days and regular head wash after that. If you had strip, you need to be more careful. Follow your doctor's instructions.

I went for a Strip procedure.

Checked your blog. Seems like a successful BHT. If I happen to require more grafts in future, I guess I might look up Dr Poswal for FUE.

1. Your receded hairline (pre-op) was much better than lots of NW1 guys.
2. What you'll do when you start to lose up your new hairline?
3. Why you didnt fue?
