Need Advice. Thinning At 18 Years Old.

Hey everyone,
Ever since I started college last year, it seems that my hair has been diffuse thinning pretty quickly.
These two pictures were taken one haircut apart over the summer.

I'm really bummed out because I like to rock wild hairstyles, but I cant anymore because I'm embarrassed by how thin it's gotten.
I thought maybe it was from stress, but it has been almost 10 months since the stressful event and my hair hasn't thickened. It also hasn't gotten much worse since like December.
This is from highschool 2 years ago.
This is from the summer before my freshman year of college.

I bought three months of finasteride, but I'm afraid to take it, especially if it is from something different.

Can anyone give me advice?

Thanks.

You can't really be told anything based on these pics. On the surface the look pretty good to be honest. I don't see a problem, but you know your hair better than anyone else. Post more pics: Closer up, hairline, crown, temples, wet, dry. Any of those will give us a better view and help you.

Out of all the recent threads posted, you have the least problematic hairline/thickness. It seems you can still rock a pompadour.

I only meant for the last two to show anything. As they were taken about a month apart, and they show a pretty noticable difference. If I get a chance I will add some recent pictures.

Thank you, but I did neglect to post any recent pictures. I was just posting the two at the bottom to show the difference in one month. When I get a chance I'll upload a more recent picture.

The only thing I notice (not to do with thinning) is maybe you have a widows peak. But nothing to worry about because even dudes like Chris Hemsworth rock long hairstyles with a widows peak.

Im not gonna tell you theres no difference. All im gonna say is as a complete stranger on the internet, we cant tell if theres a difference based on those pics. I think theyll all look exactly the same just different length. More detailed the pics are = more detailed responses

These are from just now with my hair dripping wet. And then towel dried and combed.

This is about how it has been for like 4 months. It went from decently thick hair to this in like 5 months, and it stopped in December and hasn't improved.

Also I must note that the lighting in my dorm is much harsher

Whats your family history of hairloss? Is your dad bald?

If your dad is bald then the chances of you balding is significantly higher. Especially if he balded while being young. That along with the rest of your family history and you noticing diffused thinning im sorry to say but you have probably started the process of balding

So I guess the golden question is, should I take these pills that have been sitting on my counter for a month? I'm spooked by the sides and by the fact that I'm only 19 and it could mess up any further body development.

I mean I have a similiar family history to you but started balding at 21 and started taking the pills. My head looks weird af without hair so I cant afford to lose it. At 19 I would have been more hesistant to take the drug but it is what it is and I probably would have still started taking it. How important is hair to you? Only you can make that decision.

Also, are you losing a lot of hairs during the day and in the showers?

In the shower I lose like 6 hairs and if I put clay in my hair I lose about 10 more. Could my thinning be possibly caused by several years of pretty stiff pomade being applied to my hair?

With your family history man you shouldn't try and convince yourself that it is anything other than male pattern baldness

Please start a medication... It would be such a shame to lose your hair, especially with the pretty colour! I'd like to add that I'm 19 and I have quite bad hair loss too... I decided to go on an extreme regimen though.
