Need Desperate help with shedding caused by Avo

Hey all I need desperate advice with taking avodart. I recently switched from Propecia to Avodart - May 18th till the current date.

When I was taking propecia I was only shedding light hairs and the occasional terminal hair but I had to stop taking propecia because of massive sexual side effects ( I could not get a hardon for the life of me).

Well after taking avodart my shedding went from 60-80hairs a day to about 100 for the first month. At the start of the 2nd month is has increased to around 200 hairs a day now.Now at the end of the 2nd month my hair is shedding around 200+ hairs a day. The scary thing is all these hairs are teminal, from everywhere even some donor hair or so called permanent hair...

As you can imagine losing 200 terminal hairs a day for a month has made my hair much thinner. I took pictures of before and after avodart and can't believe how much thinner my hair is now in all areas, especially the crown and frontal hairline.

My question is should I stop avodart now, I know you are supposed to give the drug 6 months but I could be totally bald by then. This is insane how does shedding my terminal hairs help me regrow anything, I have never shed terminal hairs like this.

Has anyone who took avodart and shed terminal hairs had them regrow? I have heard alot of people shed alot from avo and not get anything back. The only good thing about taking avodart is I have no sexual sides from it...

Please help I'm pretty desperate here. I could even post the pics of before and after if you guys want to see the huge difference.

I have had a shed at the first 2 months.
Try to add minoxidil ,it really makes a difference.

I will try doing that. Just wondering did you grow back all the hairs you shed or were they lost? That is my biggest concern right now... I don't mind shedding my thinning or medium hairs but my thick terminal hairs are all abadoning my scalp.

I did during my main, two-month-long, dutasteride-initiated shed, though never at the sort of daily rate you're experiencing, and yes, it did grow back; it took almost a year for the crown and mid-scalp, about six months longer for the front. If you can post those pictures for us then please do, would be useful to see.

I started shedding immediately after switching from finasteride to dutasteride and this went on badly for 2 months f*****g my temples and revealing a 3/4 Norwood pattern I never had. My dermathologist said he doesn't think that it was due to the dutasteride but a seasonal shedding. I must admit I never had such a bad shedding in my life, and in the last 15 years I tried everything.
Anyway I'm going to hit the 3rd month, shedding has slowed down and is reaching zero.
The situation is getting better now, hairs are looking better and lots of thin hairs are filling the front even in places where previously I had no hairs.

Sides... This week I'm suffering from a strange headache I must investigate. Probably too much in front of a PC, I feel my left eye is too much stressed.

You heard of ppl shedding and not getting back? How long they stay on dutasteride before giving off? With which posology? dutasteride phase II studies shows high percentage of success for what I can read...

see man, here is my view, until an optimal dosage for dutasteride is determined for MBP, with an actual double blind study, i would hold off, unless for a last ditch effort

optimal dose -- finasteride and dutasteride head to head

http://www.regrowth.com/hairloss-remedy ... esults.cfm

note: the DHT in the follicle, not the scalp blood they tested, is what matters. Sebum glands make the other DHT. All cells leak DHT into the blood, but the concentration inside is much greater.

Balding hair transplanted to an arm where blood DHT was much lower still went bald just as fast as the scalp hairs it was next to.

I have currently stopped taking Avodart this shed is to Insane.

Also I have talked with Doctor Armani about taking avodart. (I was thinking of getting a transplant from him) He let me know that other patients have complained of the same problem while on avodart and amount of shedding on the hairline was extreme. He told me if I was to get a transplant at his clinic there is a chance the avodart would even damage the transplant hairs. He was also going to write up a blog on avodart effects on the hairline...

The funny thing is from talking with a consultant from the H&W clinic. He said thier patients have had great results from avodart, much better regrowth and less side effects that propecia.

I guess everyone is different. For me propecia did help me with some regrowth but unfortunetly gave me a ton of sexual side effects.
With Avodart I have had much less sexual side effects but it is killing my hair... I am fucked either way.

God, I saw the photos... that's really a bad shedding!
What you mean when you say: "Well after taking avodart my shedding went from 60-80hairs a day to about 100 for the first month."
Do you mean that when you were on finasteride you were shedding 60/80 hairs a day?
How long where you on finasteride? How long ago did you start balding?

I find it so strange that there's so many reports of avodart and frontal shedding. I thought it sounded like some stupid crack pot theory, but everyone seems to complain about it.

do you think they actually are getting a shed, or just wanting everyone else to go bald because they got such good results on avodart? It sounds odd to me someone would get less sexual side effects when more DHT is made, unless the ARs in the genetals go into overdrive.

eh i never had any sexual side effects from avodart, but did get a frontal shed. i think it was due to too high a level of dutasteride.

Lower your dose bro, see if that helps

some people are saying that after pubery, we don't need DHT at all, at least not the DHT made by 5ar2.

Anyone heard that or agree with that? Another reason I'm just taking 2-3 per week, beside money, and the possibility of that study being real, is that I want to give my liver an easier time. I guess if old men can handle 0.5mg per day, and Bryan says 30mg/day of finasteride is OK, then maybe I'm being over cautious.
