Need Help Figuring Out These Side Effects

I started Minoxidil 3 weeks ago (2g a day) and finasteride (1mg a day) about 2 weeks ago.

10 days into taking finasteride I had really intense pain in my left chest area and also on the right hand side at times.

Cut to now and I've been off finasteride for 3 days and continued minoxidil. The pain hasn't subsided. My first reaction was it must be the finasteride (gyno), but I spoke to my GP who disagreed. Could it be the minoxidil as ive read this can happen with it?

I have pretty bad anxiety generally and I'm under a stupid amount of stress at the moment (final year of a chemical engineering degree). Whenever I think about the pain in my chest, my anxiety spikes and it hurts more. I'll be honest, I'm struggling with it.

Anyone have any idea what this is - finasteride, min, anxiety? I've never really had physical anxiety symptoms.

It may be the Min as it seems to induce cardiac symptoms as sides (usually mild). Do you also have chest tightness?

No tightness and no shortness of breath. I'm perplexed

Sounds like it's almost certainly the minoxidil. I had chest pains while on it that appeared after 10 days.

My chest issues went away in 3-4 days after I stopped using it.

Best advice I can give is to stop and see if they go away. Unlike finasteride they aren't likely to linger for very long.

Update: I cut down on minoxidil and the pain went away. However, I took one pill of Dutasteride last Monday, and after 4 days the same pain appeared then subsided in 48 hours.

I guess I must be quite sensitive to finasteride/dutasteride? I'm thinking to go back on finasteride but reduce the dose. Hair loss is pretty agressive atm, sporting a buzz cut which has lowered my confidence a lot unfortunately.
