I'll try to keep my story as short as possible...
Let me start off by saying that I am an anxious guy to begin with, which I'm sure is contributing to my issues.
I've lately caught myself reading horror stories about Propecia withdrawal. I've taken the drug for years without really any issues. Maybe lowered libido, but that's not for sure. I even stopped the drug for a year and then restarted with no known issues.
I've always been sort of anxious about taking Propecia (Finasteride) to begin with, but it's gotten a bit worse recently. The reason being I'm trying to combat my anxiety by taking an SSRI (Paxil). I was off Finasteride for a few days before I started taking Paxil, because I was concerned about taking both (even though the Doctor and Pharmacist says there's no issue). I got anxious and concerned about being off it (for anxiety and hair reasons) so decided to go back on. Once again the Doctor said that was fine.
Has anyone else taken both Finasteride and an SSRI? Does anyone have knowledge of the mixing situation? My main concern seems to be the recent evidence that taking Propecia can cause mental sides (anxiety/depression) and that's exactly what I'm trying to cure with the SSRI. I'm even taking a little Lorazepam as needed as well.
I'm considering going off of the Finasteride and just continue on with just the SSRI for now. Does that up my withdrawal symptom possibilities? Should I slowly get off the Finasteride by taking a pill every other day for a week?
I know this all sounds relatively crazy, but my anxiety is pretty fragile right now and I'm looking for any input that might help in my decision making.
