Hey guys,

I posted this over at hairlosshelp, but the forums there are kinda slow. Hopefully I can get some feedback on GourmetStyleWellness :) !

My hair has thinned out over the last 12 months, to the point where I feel I need to buzz it off..

I have asked several friends whether they think the buzzed look would suit me, they all said that it would suit me just fine.. but I'm not quite sure, just yet..

Here are 2 pics, 1 with my hair pulled back and 1 with my hair as I wear it normally (thinning hair clearly visible)..

The thing I'm most unsure of, is my forehead.. do you guys think it's too big ?

Thanks !

P.S: I've also started to grow out a scruff, which is coming along quite nicely...

Why do you think you need to buzz it? Just cut it a bit shorter, you have thinned a little but still have a good deal of hair there. Dont Buzz it until you really need to.

Thanks, guys ! So you think I should stick to having long(er) hair, for now atleast ?

@ s.a.f ; how short should I go ? I've always had this phobia of getting my hair cut to short.. because I feel that my forehead is too big..

As far as buzzing go's, I was thinking of a #3. Buzz cut, or not, I do think that my current hair length is too long for me to maintain, at it's current texture/quality. So something has to be done..

And by buzz cut, I was thinking something along the line of:

unfortunately, number 3s (3/8" buzz) dont work great for diffuse (general) hair thinning. They tend to make the top of the head look very transparent, although it depends on your degree of hair loss. In general, you would be be better either cutting it to about an inch to an inch-and-a-half (better option) or else buzzing it down really low (1 or 0.)

Are you doing anything to combat the hairloss, or are you good with just embracing it and getting on with your life?

Thanks for the replies, guys ! After a second thought, I'll probably just get a shorter haircut (so no buzz cut, for now). I.e: http://hairstylesezine.com/images/2010/ ... rstyle.jpg It covers up the temples, quite nicely..

I guess I wanted to buzz it off, just to have some kind of assurance that, when the time comes and I HAVE to buzz it off, I won't look like a total freak..

I get told that I'm easy on the eyes quite often by girls , I'd hate to see that go.. (no narcism)

I would do unthinkable things, to have Brad's hair genetics..

I am currently using 2% ketoconazole cream 3x/week and 2% ketoconazole shampoo 2x/week, I think alot of people underestimate the power of ketoconazole, when used in the right way and in the right amount (read up on the studies ; ie. the Japenese study).

I'm also taking 3 mg of biotin and MSM daily (along with other vitamins)

I've thought about taking finasteride for a very long time, but I just can't.. My mind would play tricks on me, and I'll probably get sides, even if there aren't actually any physical ones. Also, I'm a pharmacy student, so I don't want to risk getting those brain fogs and screwing up my grades (very competitive field)

What I am thinking about, is Saw Palmetto berry extract (85-95%).. I know that, when taken in large enough dose, it will probably cause the same side effects as finasteride/dutasteride cause. In a smaller/more appropriate dose, I think it would fit in quite nicely in my regime...

Sounds like you've got it all mapped out. Be sure to take pics of your hairline and crown every 2 months so you can monitor how your hair is doing. You see yourself every day, so it's hard to objectively monitor your own hairloss.

The thoughts on finasteride are understandable as well. Personally, I've been on it for over 3 years and haven't noticed any sides. I was scared away from it for 2 years after reading on propeciahelp's site...but jumped on it once I realized that I had a really thin spot on top.
