Need some help from Veteran Propecia Users

I guess I am here for the same reason the rest of us are. Hair loss! Guess I should share my problems before asking questions. I began to see a receding hairline in high school and early college 18-21. Recently (Age 24)I decided to try Rogaine for last 3-4 months. I have seen little change and very fine hair growing back. I'd say my hairline is back 1 to 1.5 inches where it should be. My father is bald and my 3 year older brother also has a receding hairline that is much further back than mine. I went to the Dermatologist last week whom I was hoping would recommend Propecia. He said it does not work on the receding hairlines and is only for the vortex or top of the head. Personally I think he does not know what he is talking about since Propecia is made stop DHT and is in no way centralized in location. I understand that libido side effects may occur and I have no problem with that right now I want to regrow and prevent (keyword prevent) future hair loss.

My questions
1) Anyone see results with Propecia on the front or receding hairlines

2) What strength should I get ? ( I noticed ..25mg, .5mg and 1.mg)

3) Where is a safe place online to purchase some

4) Should I go with generic or the authentic Merck Propecia?

Thanks for the help it is sincerely appreciated

My answers:
1) Finasteride and minoxidil substantially slowed down my frontal loss.

2) Buy Proscar (contains 5mg of Finasteride) and quarter it.

3) Many to choose from, I use inhousepharmacy.com.

4) Buy the Merck Proscar.

fraid I can't help with the questions cos only just started proscar myself (I'm only 21 and suffering from frontal loss, you can see the pics in the "my story" section)

But about that RX thing (I assume thats an American word for prescription?). you don't need one as far as I know...I jsut ordered it online from inhousepharmacy and its arrived. I think you are recomended to let you GP know that you are taking the dtuff, but you should be able to get hold of the stuff ok.

Good luck :)

OK i dont know if i would be described as a veteran propecia user but I have been using it for nearly 2 and a half years.

I thought I would come back here as I have not visited this site for AGES and I felt guilty cos I got some good advice when I was going through my crisis and I was frustrated that people who found a solution never came back to give feedback (whats the point when u dont have any more hair loss)

Well I should say I'm nearly 24 and I started losing about age 20...

I wish i could show u a pic cos although my hair line is not perfect it has stopped receeding now and i dont have any issues with it, but i still always take the 1/4 proscar every day.

I always buy the proscar from qhi.co.uk....

u can email me if u want any info cos i dont come on this site that much!
[email protected]

Just give it time and u will be OK

I reckon that's long enough to count you as a veteran.

Also glad to hear that it's worked well enough for you to be comfortable with how your hair is.

Also is this true

Our Propecia and Proscar are available in bottles of 30 tablets and 100 tablets. Propecia and Proscar packaged in small cartons of 28 tablets are not manufactured in the United States. Their manufacture is not overseen by the Federal Food and Drug Administration. Instead, their manufacture may be overseen by such agencies as the Mexican or Indonesian Board of Health or may have no oversight at all.

So I should look for 30 Tablets and not 28?

I got the info from this website > http://www.prescriptionskeywest.com/proscar.php

I am trying to find a legit place in the US that sells proscar and will do online consultation and prescription.

I think I saw it at regrowth.com or alt.baldspot, apparently the studies showed that l-lysine also helped minoxidil users get a little better results as well.

You probably do a search on this message board for "l-lysine" and something should come up. This has been out for about 1-2 years.

I searched for this on PUBMED once and came up empty. Will try again.

Thanks

I went to GNC and the guy said l-lysine was for herpes and stuff I was like okkkkkkkk. Kinda confused now.

Hey "badasshairday "
I agree with you about Propecia. I don't feel the dermatologist is as experience with male hair as they maybe with skin problems.

I hope it works for me now signs yet since its only been a month

Thanks for all the post :D

l-lysine was one of the first treatments dr's said would have some hope in alleviating herpes (on the lips) It may have some benefit for that, but I would go to the "search" link here at gourmetstylewellness.com, and put in l-lysine or one of the other sites. I know for a fact if you did a search at alt.baldspot for "l-Lysine" you would get a bunch of hits....

L-Lysine has very good science behind its ability to inhibit Herpes virus ( use it myself for that purpose). Arginine has the exact opposite effect.

I have yet to see any compelling studies on lysine for hair growth in male pattern baldness or related issues.
