Like I said, go to google.com , click on groups, go to alt.baldspot, click on search in alt.baldspot only, put in l-lysine, you will see a butt load of of information regarding l-lysine and its positive effects on hairgrowth and reports that substantiate this. Go there, I promise the info is there.

See my latest post, go there, you will find the info I discussed. You dont have to have herpes to benefit from l-lysine, it helps proscar and minoxidil work better period....

With all due respect, I just tried that route. I did not come up with any scientific backing for L-Lysine and male pattern baldness.

If you have the specific cites, it would be appreciated.

so you were able to go through all those posts over the last 2 years @ alt.baldspot, in the last 5 minutes to find that there was no clinical evidence? man youre a speed reader. I know for a fact there was a couple studies done to confirm it improved hair growth in people using proscar and minoxidil.

I mean come on its only about $8.00 for a 2 months supply, certainly cant hurt, and if you are using l-arginine which can bring out the herpes virus, it will counter act that side effect..... anyway, you dont have take it, it was just a suggestion, and a lot of people feel its a good addition for interals

I am already using L-Lysine and so that is all fine. However, I was not going to spend an hour sorting through posts to find any studies on this. If you have one or two, just post it.

If not, we assume it is in the area of whimsey.

Not that important. Just like to find real studies rather than wishful thinking.

right, unfortunately other than proscar and minoxidil you probably wont find anything that will show you enough studies to back any claims, be it revivogen, spironolactone, crinangen, l-arginine , etc. That being said some people swear by all of these....

Spencer Kobren has cited a couple of studies related to l-lysine and male pattern baldness treatments.....
Check out this site, and you'll see a link to two studies:

Let me know what you guys think...

Those "studies" mean nothing without the actual cites and references. All they have done is produce an excerpt and some quotes.

In itself, that sounds suspicious from the get!

Bruce,
Yeah I agree, the references page, and the graphs, well a lot of things are missing from these studies. I don't feel it's suspicious as much as sloppy. I would like to see the full patent application really, complete with references, citations, and graphs. Agreed.

Bruce, this may be old news to you, but I found this patent applications which lists several studies on l-lysine and it's effects on hairloss, including the references and tables you asked for. Unfortunately for us, all the studies focused on women, and there were the usual problems of few subjects and short experiment durations.

However, it does appear that there could be something positive about this amino acid. It's worth a look:
