With a strong family history it is probably heading your way. I would consider propecia as a preventative measure if I had strong family history.

Omg, I can´t believe what I am reading here. I am away for a few days and then $#iT like that comes up....You didn´t catch your hairloss early. If all that happend in the last 18 months your loss is ultra agressive. It is similiar to mine. You are not only ridicously thin in a Norwood 3 area but you are also balding at the crown and thinning all over your head. I predict that you will be slick bald before you turn 30 if you don´t take action immediately. Get on generic dutasteride (Dutas), Rogaine foam and Nizoral shampoo. Take action now before it is too late. Good Luck mate!

This is why I don't even log in anymore. What can I say that Taug hasn't already covered for me?

I definetly wasn´t trying to make Outsider paranoid because of my advancing hair loss. Why should I? It wouldn´t give me back my hair! I have no desire to make other people feel bad about their hair, I just want them to face the reality. And he was asking for opinions so that´s what he got.

I am not sure whether you read his posts properly. All that thinning happened within the last 12-18 months, so it all just started but his hair already looks very thin. I am not even sure whether he realized that he is thinning at the crown as well since he only talked about a Norwood 2.5 area. His hair is very similiar to mine, just that mine is longer and thinning all over my head. If he continues to bald like that he will be slick bald at the age of 30. You can bet on that. That´s why I said his loss is very agressive and he needs to take action immediately-

My hair was worse than this at 20 I think Taug is being a little pesimmistic. Ive seen plenty of people with thin hair who have not progressed even though they did nothing to treat it.
But I would suggest getting on meds just to be safe.

Thanks guys for the healthy discussion. A question for the guys that remember (before the meds). Who experienced a scalp itch, like an itch the happens every now and again during the day? I dont have dandruff or anything.

By the way I live in Australia. So g'day from down under.

Hi Outsider, you are clearly thinning fast around the sides/temples but the front of your hair looks really strong, I think it's likely that you'll keep a descent strip of hair down the middle, this often looks quite distinguished in my opinion.

Funny you should say that, My dad is pretty much a "chrome dome" as we sometimes call them, however he has a strip of hair down the middle of his head, its not think by any means, but its enough to see it.

What do you think about the crown/vertex?

It looks as though you will lose hair from all over eventually but you may keep and island at the front, if you could maintain what you had and grow it a bit longer you'd be fine for quite some time. You have a face shape that will pull off the buzzcut in the worst case scenario.

Itching is a typical sign for male pattern baldness. Use Nizoral shampoo and Finasteride (use the generic Fincar if you can´t afford the regular price of Propecia or Proscar) and you have a good chance that the itching will stop (as might your hairloss). I think the crown is also thinning significantly but there is hope for this since it is usually the part which responses best to treatments (sadly not for me). I might be wrong but I can also see the island formation already. The frontal area appears slightly darker than the rest of your hair.
