Hey guys

I’ve been a lurker here for a while and figured I’d make a post.

I’m 47 and I noticed my hair was thin at the crown about 10 years ago. I was shedding hair like crazy also. I tried a few things then without much success and I think I resolved to just stop looking at it.

Fast forward 10 years and there has been very little change. About a year ago my Doctor put me on clomiphene and an anti estrogen med. I certainly feel better but I think that I’m starting to shed again. I should mention that my brother in his 50’s has thick hair. Aside from having some gray it looks no different than when we were teens.

Anyway, is there anything I can do to regrow my hair where it’s thinned?

Just to confirm your doctor prescribed Clomid AND an aromatase inhibitor? AIs are very powerful and can easily bring Estradiol too low which is not good for anything. Clomid, while great for low testosterone, should not increase your estrogen levels to the point of needing an AI unless the dosage is too high.

You can obviously just try Minoxidil for now if it is not too bad and does not progress much. I would post pictures.

Yes, my Doctor prescribed both. I was getting chest soreness so he prescribed the AI. 1/4 of a 50mg (12.5mg) every other day will hold my test at 1000 total test. The normal scale is about 300-900.

I’m taking a very low dose, apparently I’m just a responder.

I’d love to have my hair back.

I’ve heard minoxodil can cause shedding - is that true? Is there anything else I can do to keep from taking another med? Anti DHT shampoos, etc?

Should I use an anti-dht shampoo? If so, which one is the best?

Should I also use minoxodil? If so, which?

What about meds such as propecia? Does that just keep me from losing hair further? Which is better meds or dht shampoo?
