Hi people, so 29 been losing IT since i was 21ish, hairline took the nose dive first, deep into the temple regions leaving some at the front (think of Draculas hairdo) this frontal strong standing bit is now being flanked off from behind making a (novelty) island situation at the front ...oh well.....would like to restore this corridor of hairloss......ok tried the procerin route bought 3 months worth....hhmm dont know wot to make of that i feel i may have had some improvements?? gonna chew the last month then booting it....already lining up the next arsenal.....sent off for Finpecia tabs (hope i ant been ripped off again...dont care how much they are, i aint choppin tabs up).......gonna start poppin........been using T-gel for a while, gonna get some nizoral 1% in and also poppin a vitamin B12 (?) every day i know every body seems to be different here, i've read so much here my eyes hurt , read about shedding (or not) and sexual side effects (or not) would like to here from a couple of you who are solely popping Finpecia or have a similar regimen or who would love to just kick me up the arse and get me on a better regimen.....Got 3 months worth of rogain here and was using it at night after showering which was ok but i would experience restless nights of sleep and would awake with a strange head buzz going off ......anybody similar ???......bizarre so i kicked it in the head......would go back if i thought it might really help.....but its a pain in the arse to be honest..........shampoos and pills are as far as i can go i'm afraid.........

I agree with the propecia comment. If you want to go with finpecia or one of the generics, that is your choice. I think research has shown that they can be effective as well, I'm just not as brave.

I think the general opinion is the big 3 is the best defense we have right now,

1. finasteride
2. Nizoral
3. minoxidil (rogaine)

Don't be discouraged by the procerin results (or lack there of). I belive the general opinion on these is that it is not going to help very much in the hairloss battle. I have been using propecia (actually proscar cut in 1/4's) for 7 months-ish now and am very happy with the results.

I would not finish the last month of procerin, read the article on Saw Palmetto on the gourmetstylewellness.com home page.

Make sure your head is dry before using Rogaine, you may be systemically over absorbing the minoxidil if your scalp is damp or wet, I always got mild heart palpitations when I applied minoxidil onto a (mine) damp scalp, stopped completely when I first let my scalp dry for a few minutes.

okay, it sounds like your regimen is all over the place man, using procerin (which is a scam by the way), deciding to quit, using vitamins (probably a waste, but take it if it makes you feel more comfortable), starting minoxidil then quitting. Read in the "success stories" portion about the three Ps.
PATIENCE (use one regimen and stick with it for a year at the very least, your hairloss took a long time to happen right, that's why it takes a long time to get back :) )
PROVEN (basically these are minoxidil and propecia- finpecia if you are getting that anyway, and definitely nizoral shampoo and maybe even a lazer comb if you feel you can afford it and want to give it a shot) PICTURES (I did not taking pictures and regret it now, but i still recommend it). to mark your progress.

so in summary, i recommend taking propecia/proscar/or finpecia, using nizoral 3-4 times a week, and using Dr. Lee's minoxidil product (it dries in twenty minutes). I also recommend NOT using it when your hair is wet, this increases the chances for heart palpatations and side effects (i only say this because you said you were having some side effects from the minoxidil). then i recommend having a good attitude about the whole thing. This has been the hardest for me, i have a lot of down times, but you just gotta keep trucking man.

best of luck to you.

There are no supplements that will combat hair loss unless your diet is really, really deficient in basic nutrients. However, some people claim that taking MSM makes their hair grow faster. If so, that may lower the time needed for hair loss treatments to become effective.

There are of course supplements that are a good idea to take if you have a typical North American or European diet. We tend not to get enough omega-3 in our diet, so taking flax oil and fish oil is a good idea. Also, green tea is a strong antioxidant. Decaf green tea extract will likely do nothing to combat hair loss, but it may help scavenge those nasty free radicals that ravage cells.
