Hi everyone,
39 yeas old, been balding 8 years, remaining hair has become more diffuse last few years, started minoxidil and nizoral 2 yeas ago.
....Im thinking of trying propecia, though im very scared about sides!!! ... will it help thicken up the hair left? Or is it too late to be effective?

hair is grade 4 buzz in photo

thanks for any advice

I would recommend going on Propecia - you never know unless you try. You have nothing to lose ... except your hair!

In controlled scientific studies, the side effects only appear in 1-2% of individuals and generally disappear if drug use is discontinued.

One thing you shouldn't do, however, if you decide to take the drug is get over anxious and worry. I notice some people who start taking the drug for a couple of days and claim they had erectile dysfunction - more often than not, it's attributable to stress rather than the drug. Getting an erection is a psychological thing as much as it is physical, and trying to get one while your mind is thinking you won't be able to is a hard feat.

Thanks Heisenberg for replying and info
,
I'm also worried about gyno breasts with the propecia, but I'm getting desperate about my hair because the middle section is going as you can see , ....so trying to decide if I should try it to see if I get sides or not, just hope they wont be permanent if I decide to stop ...

I don't expect all my hair back like crown and temples, but if it could thicken up the middle section which is thinning so I don't go slick bald until something better came along in few years hopefully then id be happy! ( I cant afford a hair transplant)
All opinions welcome, if you think its too late to help then let me know!

I'm 37, started finasteride 10days ago, so far no sides. I would suggest that you give it a try and see, pushing it for later time certainly doesn't make positive effect on your hairloss ...

This. My dermatologist made the same remark. Many propecia users seem to psych themselves into ED. I've been on the stuff for a year and 4 months and have had no issues.
