Heya, Im a nooob here.

I have been researching male pattern baldness for a while, as well as checking out these message boards.

Now listen to the story of your new friend, and humble narrator, me. I was recently diagnosed with Crohns Disease in February. I have been going through symptoms since September.. and my hair loss started at the same time. I wont go into the gories of the disease, for those of you who are unfamiliar I will summarize it... weight loss(I used to lift a lot, and eat well. I lost 30 lbs of muscle in less than a year), internal bleeding, cramps. Problems digesting protein, immune system attacking the digestive tract, and high risk of cancer.. yay.

Anyhoo, so the symptoms start, and I dont know what the heck it is. It was my last semester of college, and at that point I was known to drink entire bottles of tequila. Anyhoo, during this time is when the hair fall started. Nothing massive. I would say 1-10 hairs a day, from September until now. No HUGE sheds. Steady, steady small hairfall. So I finally got on meds recently, Asacol. Ive got the crohns symptoms under control, no bleeding anyway. But Ive still dealt with hairloss. Only the darndest thing.. the hair doesnt seem to grow back thinner, like I read that it is supposed to do. It just.. doesnt really seem to grow back. Its quite depressing

My question...
Is it possible that this is male pattern baldness, and the disease triggered it?
Or.. does the disease, or the medication have something to do with it? Does anyone here have Crohns, or any bowel disease that could shed some light?

I am currently taking topical anti dht stuff, cuz I think its male pattern baldness.. Im taking super zix and spironolactone.. been for the past two months.. but hairfall isnt stopping. Maybe its not DHT? Can a derm tell if hair is being affected by DHT? I think I need to consult a derm. Anyhoo, I want to start taking pics, and posting more, so if anyone else has the same problem I do, they can perhaps gain something from my plight.

hiya mate, sorry to hear ur problems.

basically, u need to go see a tricologist yeh, and they will identify if it is male pattern baldness balding. if it is, theyl offer u finasteride or minoxidil prob at their prices. BUT u dnt need to buy off them. i wud recommend not doing so unless it is a great deal!

i think maybe ur disease has triggered this. i have heard before this can be the case. but at the same time it may just be a coiscidence that its male pattern baldness.

if it is, and if u really feel its bad balding, ul need to hop on the finasteride wagon, and add minoxidil (i added it straight away) and also maybe nizoral twice a week. i was also told to wash my hair every day by my tricologist to keep my scalp healthy. but, i suggest u ask about this again, and pleae lt me know if they say otherwise.

hope this has helped.
