I've been on proscar (.25 of a pill per day) for almost a year now. I waited to see the results...and I think it has stopped my loss, but as far as I can tell I haven't had any regrowth. Today I purchased the generic 5% minoxidil. The box says only apply it to the vertex because that is the only place it works. Is that true? Would it be a waste to apply it to my hairline and on top of my head?

return it. I will not help you in the long run. It will shed your hair. Proscair is working for you and dont mess it up with you just b/c you want to regrow hair. Stay with procair and be happy with your hair stopping.

My advice to you, go to http://www.minoxidil.com buy one single bottle of product 500 (standard minoxidil) which should cost you around $16, keep this bottle untill your generic minoxidil has run out, then use this new bottle and compare the greasyness/drying time/appearence and so on, I will guarantee you will never buy a generic again.

The minoxidil from http://www.minoxidil.com (Dr. Lees 5% minoxidil, product 500) dries much faster than Rogaine (it takes about 15 mins to dry, Rogaine takes about 2 to 3 hours) and is much less greasy than Rogaine... in other words its 10 times more convenient than regular Rogaine.
